Testing blower, unsure cable colour Positive or negative

Hi, I am wanting to test a couple of blowers I have purchased just to completely rule them out as the problem or not.  Can anyone advise which colour in the image is positive and negative.  There also is a thinner purple wire which I assume is the control..  does this need to be connected to test the blower?  Many thanks for any advice on this.
