That's unfortunate, but I don't know what else to suggest. I would guess the number plate light now being constantly illuminated is the cause of the original switch failure rather than a consequence of the new switch. Melting of the switch would undoubtedly be caused by a high resistance inside it, or else an unusually high current draw. An auto electrician should be able to help.
  3. Yeah that's an airbag sensor, no idea how sensitive they are but if you were to change the grille over you would need to have the battery disconnected for certain before doing any unplugging. Then you would need to find away of securing the sensor to the new grille in as close to the same spot as possible and very securely.

Chris. In your place I would be more concerned at ensuring the car has a complete service history than an ancient recall or update. As for the free health check, bear in mind that nothing worthwhile in life is ever free. The only checks that will be done are those that any sensible person would do before buying a car.
  5. Hi Steve, sorry for the late reply. Yesterday was crazy busy trying to sort car out but the good news is it's fixed!! I think i saw here in this topic someone saying there's only 3 sensors but in fact it's 4. The 2 on the top close to the lambda sensor and nox,one that comes straight up at the bottom(orange plug) and yesterday saw another one underneath the turbo if I'm not mistaken( black plug). Bought a new sensor(black plug) and tried it on that plug and no error whatsoever and since I had bought one a few months ago and the shape and plug being exactly the same I just used it and no errors,no lights, nothing all day!! Returned the sensor and saved £57!! Thanks for your support and replies, very much appreciated. Raul
