  1. Hi everyone, As name suggests I was a keen MINI fan for years until I couldn't buy a car with a spare wheel and tyre, folding mirrors and heated seats. Simplest thing to do was move on. This is my 3rd new A1 so obviously I like the model. My problem is that this car is only 6 days old with 174 miles on the clock but when I checked the engine oil yesterday, as the car engine felt a bit rough, there was only a drop of oil on the end of the dipstick, not at the minimum level. Speaking to the sales guys at the dealership, apparently the 'Technician' told him that the level varies due to the temperature but if the oil light didn't come on I was perfectly safe. Now as someone who has worked in the motor trade all my working life, I advised the salesman that he'd been told BS and 9 times out of 10 if the oil light comes on, the engine is already cooked as the light is a pressure light, not an oil level light. I'm concerned that the car has not had a proper pre-delivery inspection as the tyre pressures were low and the water bottle wasn't full either. If this is happening to me, who else is having the same luck? My vigilance has saved the dealership the cost of a new engine but no apology, just arrogance. I'm annoyed and really disappointed. Your comments would be appreciated. morrisminiminor
  2. 1 point
It is common for the EGR cooler to lose coolant into the engine. It's an expensive fix.
  3. I don't want to type the word begging with Y as I'll get bitten! After the dealership got 'the tool' from Audi for the 3rd / 4th time to plug into the suspension it's had both front suspension units replaced (I think it only needed one but OS was swapped first and NS when the fault came back within 48h), a controller and some software updates and so far so good. Major issue was the dealership getting hold of 'the tool' as it appeared to take 3-9 weeks to get hold of from Audi UK.
  4. I have changed the title.
  5. It's likely the air flap motor is faulty on passenger side.
  6. Apologies for the gripe, but the forum has recently suffered from a spate of what can be termed ‘Post and Run’ new members, who seem to think it’s perfectly acceptable to post a plea for help, and simply not return to view the help given. In a more diluted form, help is offered, but is very rarely acknowledged even via. a simple press of the Like button, leave alone a posted Thank You. The last part of the gripe is that we frequently have to ask for additional information, and this extra detail often never materialises. Please remember, everyone who posts replies do so without payment, but it certainly does cost them in time - in terms of the Moderators and Admin back up - a lot of time. So a special plea to all on here who post needing help:- please be respectful enough to acknowledge any help given, rather than simply accept it as a no-cost, no time of yours, free advice service. It’s wearing thin folks, so if you want to retain this service, please respect and acknowledge its benefits. Thank you all for reading this, and above all, agreeing to adhere to the respect that is needed to be shown. Kind regards, On behalf of the Moderators. Please note:- This request is to all members, not just new ones. p.s. Please avoid using non specific locations such as U.K., England etc. etc.
