  1. Let’s assume you know nothing about the history of the car, only that it didn’t have an MOT and it was retested? For brakes after a major leak, then bleeding from just one caliper could still cause issues and a ‘soft pedal’ with air somewhere in the system. It sounds like the garage just wanted the job done quickly. Bleeding brakes requires starting at wheel furthest from brake fluid reservoir, then finishing at wheel closest to reservoir. There’s also a process in VCDS to bleed the ABS pump. It would be worth getting the brakes bled properly, which means running at least a litre of DOT4 fluid through it. Normally it’s around £100. For those that are spanner handy, then a Draper bleed tool is very handy, in the respect it keeps the reservoir permanently topped up while doing the job. Given the car is 2008, I’d invest in new brake nipples too. They are invariably damaged or worn. Run a smear of ceramic grease on the threads before fitting.
  2. Not sure. I assume there's a window regulator that adjusts the window. My wife has a BMW i3, similar in the respect that the window drops on opening, then rises on closing. Wash the window and apply Rain-X or similar onvthe inside. On the rubber, apply the very lightest smear of red grease. That should break any ice contact and frozen windows. Re-apply every couple of weeks until we're out of this cold snap.
  3. Had all 6 injector seals & o rings replaced, new bolts and new brackets £445 inc vat at midland vw No more chuffing sound, they said all 6 injector seals were failed or failing and 2 dropped into cylinder head whilst removing so they had to remove head and re-fit. Drove the car for around 40 miles now and all seems fine now 👍🏼👌🏼🤞🏼 Cheers for all the help guys 👊🏼

It's likely the instrument cluster has failed, a common fault on A3s. Companies such as ECU testing amongst others can usually repair it for less than £300. You will need to remove the cluster and post it to them.
  5. It seems we, including myself, are making assumptions based on an imprecise story, so can we establish some facts? 1/ Was the soft pedal only discovered during the retest? That would point to a poor repair technique, but as long as it was corrected before issuing a certificate it's nothing to worry about. 2/ Is the pedal now still soft despite having a certificate? 3/ Did you Leah comment or complain at the time and what was the response?
  6. Hi Richard My little Audi, despite her age, has only done just under 94,000 and, apart from general wear and tear on the hoses, seems to be in pretty good condition otherwise. Someone actually stopped me in the local supermarket car park not long ago, said he used to have an A3 and regretted parting with it, so I'm not giving up without a fight!
  7. If you find a car you like, then get seller or garage to photograph the build sticker. Usually found on accompanying paperwork or in rear wheel well. Those codes, list every component fitted, gearbox, engine, etc. You can then manually decode extras with online software.
  8. I'm not sure what the actual pack is called in the UK. Mine is equipped with the "Platinum Pack" which includes the "Pack assistance Tour" and it has active lane centering. It's hard to tell from pitures if a car is equpped with it, but when it is available then: - At the end of the indicator lever there is a small push button do toggle the active lane centering on and off - In the dashboard when cruise control is enabled and lane centering detected the lanes, it also shows the left/right lane next to that icon in green. When the feature is off no lines are shown. When no lanes are detected the lines are white. - In the screen you mentioned where you can configure "minimal", "maximal" and "individual" you will find in the upper right corner a gear icon that leads to another screen where you can configure this setting. You also find other settings related to adaptive cruise control there.
  9. Just as I thought. Please desist from any further misleading and damaging claims if you wish to continue as a member of these forums.
  10. In the Individual menu you can controll settings like Speed warning Traffic sign speed warning Adaptive cruise assist Distance warning Audi pre sense At least those are the options available on my Allroad. I'm not familiar with the trim levels in the UK.
