  1. It definitely sounds as if you have a short somewhere in your electrical system, I would try starting it up, reconnecting the fan and going for a drive far enough to see if the temperature gauge is registering. Obviously if it's not working it could well be the coolant temperature sensor, if the gauge is registering it would suggest there's a short in the wiring for the fan that's draining your battery. In which case it's probably best to find someone with VCDS that can do a diagnostic check on it so you're not chasing your tail.

    MPG

I'm glad somebody was able to explain this to you as it just bought a smile to my face, in my case if you just swap the 4 round with the second number in your mpg figures you've pretty much got my mpg, nobody has to touch my tank it just drains itself.
  3. As you say this post is only for advice but just so you're aware in order for the police to take action regarding an offence of fraud you would need proof that he has committed an offence under one of the first two sections of the fraud act, I very much doubt that the third heading applies - see here http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2006/35/notes. Citizens advice bureau will undoubtedly direct you towards Trading Standards so I wouldn't bother to contact them as Trading Standards would be your best bet, it may be that if the seller is willing to pay for the repairs he doesn't want any attention, or he could just be a thoroughly nice bloke, so here's hoping that he's true to his word. I hope you get it sorted out quickly so you have your dream car up and running properly, spring is just around the corner.
  4. As per the title really, the front lower control arms on my 2005 S4 are showing signs of wear with the bushes worn on the rear lower arms and the rubber gaiter split on one of the front arm ball joints. Before anyone suggests replacing both upper and lower arms the uppers are fine and I need to keep costs down within reason. So which brand do I use and where is the best, aka cheapest, place to buy them from, assuming nobody actually bothers replacing just the bushes even thought it appears you can buy them separately?
  5. Hi Steve, Thanks for that, hopefully I won't breach any of those. :)
  6. Thanks Steve, Where do I find the etiquette thread please, I couldn't immediately find?
  7. Hi, I signed up to this forum today as having recently bought a ticking time bomb wrapped in a 2005 S4 cabriolet body I'm likely to need the advice of those members on here knowledgeable in the ways of these cars. Graham.
  8. I pulled the stereo out of my car as I'm wanting to find a way of fitting a USB/Aux in so that I can play music from my phone on my stereo and I found a thing called a Dension Ice Link behind the stereo, it's actually got Audi printed on the other side of it. Somebody had kindly cut the wire to the multi pin plug that goes into it but am I right in thinking this is for connecting an ipod or similar? I do not have nor want an pod or iphone, I have a Sony Xperia which I'm perfectly happy with but who knows if the easy route to expand the stereo to digital music is an ipod I may get one and use it instead.
  9. I recently replaced the batteries in both my keys and just followed the instructions in the handbook and they work fine, did you follow the procedure to the letter as you need to do it in a certain time if I recall correctly?
  10. Hi Aaran, yes you can partially open the roof and stop it in any position you want but you will find the hydraulic system loses pressure after a little while so it will then start to sink back down so if you can find something to prop it open with at the desired height you should be fine.
  11. If you don't mind a bit of spannering you could buy 2nd hand from ebay, get them sprayed and fit them yourself as they're only bolt on and the painter should be able to match the colour by its code. For what it's worth I've just come from a 2000 Mercedes SL320 on which I replaced the front wings for the same reason, no pattern wings made for these and the genuine ones cost me over £800 each (£682+ 20% VAT) plus fitting and painting. Something like these look a fairly sound base for getting your car sorted - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Audi-A4-B6-CONVERTIBLE-PASSENGER-SIDE-FRONT-WING-IN-GREY-CODE-LX7Z/202232629491?_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIM.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D43781%26meid%3Db435a204f69249b5b5ad44626825ce65%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D6%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D173127564771%26itm%3D202232629491&_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GENUINE-UNUSED-AUDI-A4-S4-CABRIOLET-CABRIO-FRONT-RIGHT-WING-8H0821106B-2007-09/232654618221?hash=item362b4bbe6d:g:370AAOSwoF1Zu9qR
