!Removed! thieves. Left my headlights in the front garden for 20 mins to find someones nicked them. #$$$#holes . My cars a S8 D3 2007. So, when a pair of brand new headlights for a very good price came along , I was chuffed. Came home to find the adapters were 10pin instead of 14pin. Totally Gutted!! When I was starting to praise the €$$**$ for stealing them I get kicked in the balls again. They are the DRL Bixenon AFS ones. Searching on the net, theres lots of 10pin to 14pin but not in reverse . Would anyone happen to know where I could get these or even get them made. Kufatec do the 10 to 14pin. Or if someone has the wiring diagrams to help me make a set that would also be awesome. As I can probably buy the connectors and try to make them myself. Any information would be greatly appreciated as I'm stuck. Cheers..

Hi Gareth, thanks for the reply. How your well. In the previous oil change I used quantum 5w30. I didnt know what was exactly in the pan, of which to my disgust was the sludge. I mean it was quite sticky and I'd imagine its left its mark somewhere in there. For me dropping the sump and cleaning it is probably the least of my worries, I dont mind it as long as I know it's the best I've done even if it means doing it again to get it cleaned out. I've still got 10 or so litres for an extra flush which is why I bought the quantum stuff, not saying it's a bad oil. I Personally am going to put in Motul 300V. At £34 for two litres i'd like to get the insides spotless. Coming back to the engine flush it's something I've had on my mind for a few weeks. Ive just not had the guts to pull the trigger without having some expert advice from the members like yourself. If I did decide to use it would it damage the engine in anyway. Pair of virtually brand new headlights. Bought from Audi last year at great expense. No ballasts igniters etc. Part numbers 4e0941003/004AD Looking for around 700. They are literally brand new . Wont be disappointed.

After cleaning it with degreaser . came out really well really pleased. Sump after cleaning I also took a snap of the engine bottom end, looks very clean in my opinion. I installed the oil strainer and sump pan with the help of a workshop manuals from www.cardiagn.com. awesome site . Sealed the pan using loctite 5980 black silicone and filled her up with quantum 5w30 from the audi parts dealership (TPS) 20 litres of oil cost me 70ish pounds not bad I must say I also removed the rocker cover to check for and sludge in the top end which luckily looked amazingly clean. And while I was at it I thought I'd remove the top part of the inlet manifold to see what state the inlet flaps were. Having read these cars suffer from carbon build up and broken flaps. Which also looked brand new , luckily. So now the car has been put back together and I have filled her up over 10 litres with a fresh filter new oil, cleaned pickup pipe I am going to start her in the next day or so. I'm planning to run her for a hour , then Add Forte Advanced formula engine flush in after the hour and let her idle with the flush information 30 mins or so. Then drain off the oil (I know its such a waste but I'm very fussy). Remove the pan once more, clean the pickup pipe and seal it up again. Then put in some fresh oil with a filter, drive for 500 miles and drain and fill again without removal of the sump. So my main concern after doing this is. SHOULD I USE A ENGINE FLUSH and what would be the best oil to put in after the flush. I hope I've covered everything and will definitely be posting up soon with my experience Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

Hi guys, it's been a long time since I posted but have made a lot of progress since I last posted. Very interesting post must read!! The last time I posted, my S8 had not been started in 10 years, with under 5000miles on the clock, the car had been sitting for a very long time. I Had replaced the steering column and couldn't get the column coded. Bought Odis software and a vas5054 and after countless hours I successfully coded the column. HOOORAY.. 6 MNTHS later. And now my car starts on the button. 1. I drained the oil 2 -3 months ago and found water , about a litre of water came out then oil started pouring out.. I changed the filter put fresh oil in and started it. Sounded sweet but was smoking due to the Marvels mystery oil piston soak I had done previously. ( in my first post) Now 2 mnths on and having started the car over 10 times leaving it running for hours on end to warm up everything ( I still havent driven it). I decided to remove the sump and clean the oil pick up. This is what I've found. Sludge in the bottom of oil pan. Lots of it. Luckily it only stayed at the bottom of the pan ( well I hope it has.) That looks mint mate. Congrats. Make sure you do clean the water drains. Just as a precautionary.

What catches my eye is the freeze frame temp is -40deg the car had no coolant in it. But I've filled it up still no start.

So a quick update. Installed the new column. Had it coded. I'm still having the same problem. No lights no ignition. I did manage to get the car to crank over. But only through vcds. I go to 05 Acc/start module. Put in my security code, which then allows me to do out put tests. The out put test 1. Unlocks the column 2. Switched on terminal 15, which allows me to get all the dash lights etc. On. Which then allows me to start the car which starts for a brief 2 secs. Then dies out. My vcds codes are as follows. The codes that I think are related to start problem are ECM not adapted and Transmission ECM not adapted. I'm in the right direction and have come along way, I just need some expert advice from you guys to get me a little closer. So, I stripped the steering lock and sent it to Tom at Speedo solutions to have it remanufactured, along with the kessy and a key. Hoping he sorts it. Heard a lot of good things about the chap. I also filled the cylinders with marvels magic oil and let it soak for a few days. Turned engine by hand wasn't seized so that was a result.

Lol. For a small module that has gone down the pan. I'm mechanically minded so I do most of the work myself. Spoke to a few other guys who had to fork out over £2800 thats just daylight robbery. I'm gonna wait till Mr sunshine visits us again in the uk, before i give it a crack. Will keep posted I'm sure once it's done some poor chap whose going through the same dilemma will read this post and might get some relief from scouring the net

Steering column

Thanks Steve. The car had sustained some damage at the front and was subject to a category D in 2007. It was bought by a chap who had left It in his barn for over 10 years. He had some health problems (at least what he told me ) and tried a few electricians but no success. My main concern is the engine not seized etc. I have removed the column and I'm waiting to see if a friend can swap the file from my car to a new steering column which I bought of eBay. Holefullyvthat may work. If not it's £1020 from audi plus coding. But obviously don't want to fork out 1100 pounds if the engine is shot . I will hopefully keep this detailed and take pics. Fingers crossed the engine isn't knackered, can't take anyone's word on it unless I take the measures to check myself. I'm going to drop some oil in the cylinders today and let it soak in for a cpl days and manually turn it over by hand.

Hi I'm a new member and a owner of a Audi S8 D3. I'm a die hard Audi fan and have been for years or even decades. I needed some advise and thought this would be the ultimate place to share my problems with. Lol🤗 So where do I start. I purchased this car a while ago as a project and have now started to look into it. It's been stood since 2007 and has covered around 5thousand miles. 5k. The previous owner had it parked for 10years as it had an electrical fault and some damage which was caused in 2007. After reading on various websites, Ive concluded the steering column to be faulty as vcds is showing steering lock actuator n360 open circuit fault leading me to believe it needs a column. The car accepts the key but there is no ignition lights on the dash. Hopefully when I've sorted this problem I will have to start it at some point. What would be the best procedure. I have already dismantled the front end hoping to crank it by hand for the first few revolutions what should i do as I don't know the state of the engine. If it's seized etc. I don't want to damage what could potentially be my car i keep for life. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
