  1. Well from what I've read I'm not the only one where it hasn't worked. Though there is reports of a bovee one working, so ordered one of those to see if it works. Is the 2g mmi the red and black display in the centre? Mine is colour one
  2. Well that was disappointing, ordered a tune2air device. Plugged it into the ami and..... Nothing. No power going to the device. Is there a way to check if the ami is working.
  3. Yeah its just a normal key. Ill have a look at third parties, thanks. Dont fancy paying Audi prices lol cheers chaps.
  4. Thats good, ill give it a google. Glad to hear its not only Audi who can do it. 🙂
  5. Hi All, Apologies, ive been posting alot - but new car, so comes with new questions etc So, my car only came with one key and i was wondering if its only Audi who can supply and code a replacement key, or are there other places i can go to get one? Thanks Gareth
  6. and by luck i have the laptop on me at work. Where in Leeds are you?
  7. Im in Leeds and have VCDS AND did the rear brakes for the first time last weekend.
  8. Cool, thanks. What is the extra wires for coming off the adapter
  9. Yeah I've bought depo before and they've been spot on. . Can you confirm if the plug into the back of the light is the same on halogen and xenon lights?
  10. Only if you fit them to reflector headlights. I've fitted them to my passat that has halogen bulbs but projector headlights. Passes mot fine (last Thursday being the latest). Beam pattern and cut off is spot on. Don't worry Id never fit hids to the existing reflector lights. That's why I wondering if you could get some after market projector lights for the a6 that I could plug straight into the existing connection.
  11. Yeah I'd read up that you could do it manually. But I do have vcds so wanted to do it the correct way. Done it once now, so I'll be more confident in the future. 🙂
  12. Well spent the day changing the front and rear pads. Had to use vcds to wind back the rears, which was nerve racking as I'd heard you can fool the module if not done right, due to a software issue. Disabling them I got a Handbrake malfunction error, but once I'd re-enable them, it was fine. Was scary at first though seeing that error. Next up was to change the air filter and oil filter and oil. All went fine apart from one thing. As a precaution I'd bought a new sump plug and seal. So removed the old, drained the oil and put the new one back in, nipping it up tight enough. Did what I needed to do and then rolled the car down the ramps and filled up with fresh oil. Didn't think anything of it. I then decided to give it a quick wash. Then when it was time to leave (I'd done all this on my parents driveway), there was a pool of oil on the floor. So back up on the ramps, engine cover off and low and behold, the new sump plug was leaking like mad. Tried nipping it up but it just wouldn't seal. In the end I had to put the old one back on. Difference between them is the washer, the old is a thin possibly aluminium one, the new is a thicker (about double thickness if not slightly more) and made of copper. It's the correct plus and washer (its just a washer), so no idea why it just wouldn't seal. Other than that it was fine, I'm just baffled by the new oil plug.
  13. And that's to fit it like factory. What if I bought an after market hid kit? Going by your response above I couldnt plug the existing headlight plug into the projector headlights? Then fit a after market hid kit
  14. I'm wondering if anyone has swapped out the halogen reflector headlights for some projector ones you get with the cars fitted with xenons. The set I've seen for sale states they inky fit cars that had xenons fitted from factory. But I can't see why, the dimensions will be the same. Like my passat that had halogen bulbs but projector lights, I want to fit the headlights, then get an after market hid kit.
  15. Ok, thats good. Sorry new to this aspect 🙂 Does it work with Android devices?
  16. Yeah next to the cd player in the clover box i have another unit, that a cable comes out of... looks like it has an old type iphone connection on the end of it. Ill get a pic.
  17. Cheers, sounds ideal. Does it plug directly in using the cable in the glove box?
  18. It certainly is. The engine and car feels so refined, still feels new despite it being 10 years old.
  19. Yeah I did a bit of googling and thankfully found the same. As you say happy days!!
  20. So far ive fallen in love with the 2.7 v6 diesel, its smooth and effortless, but im finding it does drink fuel (i know i know i didnt buy it for economy).
  21. Can i play music on an app of my choice AND use for phone calls through the Dension500bt? The car did come with a BT phone like gadget that connects to a port in the central arm rest. It works, but i find my phone doesnt auto connect to it and I i cant play music through it. Ill do some research into the devices youve listed. Thanks.
  22. Apologies in advance for yet another newbie question - After wondering if my car has a DPF, I had a look at the options list in the service book. Does this mean it has a DPF? 7GN = Emission standard, EU4, DPF preparation
  23. Yeah a cd changer. Which wont ever be used as i want to some way to use my phone to play music via a bluetooth adapter of some sort.
