  1. Hello and welcome to Audi Owners Club. Is there any chance you could post some photo's and location of where the buyer would have to pick up from? We hope you enjoy your stay here :)
  2. Hi, im not really sure how that would work but do know that if you have a space saver, you can replace with tyre foam and it will pass the M.O.T. I would have thought it would have to be the same size space saver as the wheels that are on the car. Iv noticed that Audi choose to do alot of things different to other car manufacturers.
  3. I learnt a very valuable lesson today regarding the number plate lights that are built in to the boot handle. If you don't remove the screws once in a while they seem to bond themself to the boot handle strip! Iv had to drill the heads off the screws to remove the bulb holders which fell to pieces once id got them off. Im now trying to get hold of the strip including both lights without having to goto the main dealer. There's one on eBay for £50+ but looks like it's having the same problem as mine had, trust Audi to use Aluminum :( Does anyone know where i can get the boot handle strip and the 2 light holders from? cheapish. Need one desperately as i now have no number plate lights and there is a canbus error telling me so lol. Thanks in advance :)
  4. PMSL! my A4 is 2.0 so i know the feeling. I have to take out a bank loan just to drive 5 miles ;o) At least with a petrol it's more responsive, better acceleration and cheaper to fix/service. Everything is pricey at the moment, think it's a case of 'grin and bear it' until the current climate sorts itself out :)
  5. Do you have any changes in mind? I seem to work better to plans but sometimes things don't go as plans lol. I try and do most of the work myself to cut the middleman costs but its sometimes easier to puy the parts :)
  6. Im not sure how strict Steve might be with adding other forum web links so im sorry if it's against the rules and please delete as appropriate but i find the following sites useful with Audi mods. Although this site is a dedicated Audi A4 site, i have noticed that the Audi A3 has alot of similar parts so it may come in useful. No registration is required to view the posts which makes things alot better to source information quickly - http://www.a4mods.com/webcontent/forum/ This is the forum thread where i got the idea for the I-Tray, it's pretty in depth and contains some useful information - http://www.audiforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=41040&highlight=ipod+dock+ashtray Again, aimed at the Audi A4 but can be used for some parts of the Audi A3 - http://www.wheelsjamaicahost.com/wheels_forum/index.php?topic=119783.0 Everything you will need to know about replacing standard bulbs with L.E.D bulbs - http://www.wheelsjamaicahost.com/wheels_forum/index.php?topic=119783.0 This is a forum thread for an airbox mod, it costs nothing to do and has the same effect as an aftermarket airfilter (ram air, forced air, cool air, etc) - http://www.audiforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=60004 I will add some links for companies that sell official Audi mod parts soon :) If you don't feel confident enough to try a little D.I.Y on your Audi, these links are more than useless to you :P
  7. He he, there's nothing wrong with just having a sprayed grille. That's alot more than my car had a couple of weeks ago :) There's alot i want to do, it's having the money and being a full time college student my funds are quite tight. I will sort them sites out in the next couple of hours, i would have done them sooner but had to do a full electrical re-wire on my dads shed so my time had been taken
  8. Hi Lauren and welcome to AudiOwnersClub forums. Unfotunately im also pretty new to the modding scene and not really purchased any mods for my car yet but have done some D.I.Y mods. I will dig out a couple of useful sites that might come in handy for you. We hope you enjoy your stay here and look forward to reading your posts
  9. I have uploaded a couple of photo's to the gallery but have added the finished project to this post. All comments are welcome :)
  10. After seing someone's idea of converting the front ash tray into an Iphone/Ipod tray i thought id give it a bash. Seems to be coming along nicely but alot more fiddley than i expected. Iv managed to get the cable in place and im ready for bonding it to the ash tray. I then need to find some suitable filler to make the tray a flush fit before i sand/smooth it all down and spray it black. I will grab a couple of photo's long the way to give you a better idea of what mess im making ;)
  11. I did an oil and filter change on my car today. After removing the skid plate i came across a nut with a star shape on it! Being a little confused and not knowing much about Audis i decided to do abit of research as that didn't seem right. Luckily i didn't remove the star nut as that's for the transmission fluid, i managed to find a rubbish image on google which shown me the location of the drain plug so i took a photo a better photo while i were doing my car. Hope this helps other members out who decide to do an oil change without taking it to a garage and paying silly prices.
  12. All of the above problems are now sorted. The ECP light, loss of power and juddering were down to wrong octane fuel. I now pay closer attention when filling up and have remembered which garages are best. I bought a new MAF Sensor on Monday, since then my car seems alot smoother to drive, more response and the temperature gauge is working as normal *Touchwood*. Iv not really noticed if the radiator fan starts spinning as soon as i turn on the ignition but i will check that tomorrow. The noise i could hear from the dash are actually motors for the heaters which are adjusting. Obviously nothing for me to worry about. I also noticed when i was fitting the new headunit that there were some ISO adapters unplugged but i never knew what they were for. I managed to trace the wires to a Nokia box which i have now realised it was for a hands free kit that wasn't remover properly before i bought the car. I mentioned the centre blowers now working. I pinpointed this to 1 of the 10 motors. It has become faulty and in-operational, iv yet to find a spare motor to replace it with but have managed to open the flap for the time being so that they work. I can control the rest with the vent flaps so it's no biggy. I hope if anyone else has any of these problems. I have managed to find a fix for them
  13. Iv finally managed to finish the installation. I had no problems running the Aux and Remote cable to the boot but i did have problems finding a suitable ground point for the amplifier. Iv made a temporary one for now which is attached to the chassis with a bolt but i don't like the idea of the cable travelling such a distance so i will make a more suitable ground point closer to the amplifier tomorrow. On the headunit i only have 1 set of pre-outs (phonos) so had to dash off and buy a 'male -> 2 female splitter' as the ISO PC9-404 also uses the phono connection. I think my next step is to un-hook the built in amplifier and subwoofer but that means i will also have to rewire the back speakers straight to the headunit as they are powered by the built in amplifier at the moment. Other than that, it sounds brilliant, i now have music on an 8GB USB pen and the overall installation don't look too bad (Excluding the headunit lights up blue and everything else is red) but that's no biggy. All wiring is hidden nicely down the door trims and i managed to fit a switch in the glovebox which allows me to switch the power off to the amplifier. Parts Used ---------------- * Audi A4 02-05 Fascia Adaptor * Autoleads PC9-404 Smartlead * 2 x Male to 2 Female Adaptors * 10 AWG Wiring Kit * 12" 1100 Watt JBL Subwoofer * 12" Single Subwoofer Box * 600 Watt Amplifier * 1 Farad Powercap * Sony Headunit Latest Video -
  14. Yeah i think the cap seems to be the problem with photos. I took the photos with an Iphone which only takes photos with 1 setting (very large) lol. The only way i know off the top of my head for resizing photos is by using paint, but pretty much everyone has the program installed in windows and it's a very simple process. I will quickly write a how-to for the members who don't know. 1/ Open Paint. 2/ Load the photo you want to resize (different methods for doing this which depends on the operating system). - You can right click the photo you wish to resize and then open with -> paint for a quick way. 3/ If using Windows 7, there is a tab at the top of paint which says [Home View]. Make sure you click Home. 4/ Click Resize (a window will appear) 5/ Keep Percentage checked and change the Horizontal and Vertical values. I put 50 and 50 which will basically resizes the images by 50% 6/ Click Ok 7/ Click the purple disk icon at the top to save the image and your finished. On windows Vista and older Operating Systems you can click the tabs at the top (can't remember which tab it is exactly but I think it 's Edit, we can edit this post once we find out for definate). You then need to look for something along the lines of Resize/Skew and follow steps 5 -> 7
  15. Steve, now that you have mentioned it iv just checked the photos that won't upload and there around 3MB so im guessing the limit is capped? The photos that uploaded ok are under 2MB which could explain why. I will shrink them down in size and try again
