Thank. Yes it does go back into place and works fine. Just need to be careful next time. I was asking more around if this is common. Maybe I was just heavy handed.

Yes it's really tricky to get the holder released and even putting it back in is tough because it's not obvious which way round it goes.

If you have a 2019 model I guess you have 2 keys?

The batteries seem to only last a couple of years.

There is a trick for starting the car if the key battery is low or dead - place the back of the key on the centre console - it's in the manual under "starting the engine"

  2. It looks like you can try to push the broken bit back down?

The top of the key will hold it in place worst case.

I'm pretty sure that what you have broken is just the battery holder.

You could buy a replacement "no brand" key and take the battery holder out - something like this

    https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Smart-Remote-Key-Shell-Case-Fob-3-Button-Audi-A4-A5-S4-S5-Q7-SQ7-2017-Up-/254849071437?var=0&mkevt=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=710-53481-19255-0&campid=5338268676&toolid=10044&customid=Cj0KCQjwh_eFBhDZARIsALHjIKd86zcJ9hKB97xpeqD720J1FW_rfAL5DlIW0LECe2SD69nj-gZRUJsaAoktEALw_wcB

You could also Google audi A5 key fob battery holder.

  3. If you check the tyres that you have (probably Dueller or Blizzak? ) and price them up, including checking their noise rating, efficiency and braking efficiency - the same tyre can be sold at various prices depending on these grades.

Then look at Goodyear Eagle F1, Michelin cross climate or pilot and Pirelli Scorpion Verde.

You'll have a good idea on suitable premium tyres.

Kwik fit and black circles are both good starting points.

You can then decide if you want to trim your budget and look at lower cost options *

As Steve has said you should change in pairs or all 4 - most suppliers will give you a discount for 4.

*different tyres can cause different sorts of road noise so often it ends up safer to get what you know.

Having said all that - I currently have Falkens - same size as yours - that were fitted prior to me buying my 2018 Q5 and so far they have performed well on the noise and braking front 👍

  4. I think you have the RNS-E /navigation plus.

    Have look here to confirm

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audi_Navigation_Plus

You can buy map DVDs from eBay or other resellers.

Or if you have the ability, you can also burn your own DVD.

The burning can be quite tricky - you need very specific discs and DVD writers.

You can also get firmware updates.

I've used similar methods on my previous VW RNS units.

If you haven't got anything right now then you have nothing to lose 👍

    Thank you for the response.

Yeah the steering wheel controls are fine I didn't realise you could get to the menu from there I'll give it a go.

And that's what I'm thinking if it's knackered I'll Google the MMI removal too I'll buy a new panel if needs be.

    Cheers appreciate that 👍

I think you can access the menus from the steering wheel - but it's worth a try 👍

Edit: looks like someone else has the same issue

  6. 2 lights on at the same time shouldn't happen.

Can you still select and navigate to the settings menu using the steering wheel controls? If so, you can try a factory reset from there.

Otherwise, it could be that the switch is knackered or there is something stuck under it.

You could try removing it - Google "remove audi mmi joystick" for a few videos and other discussions.

@Shytot I paid £100. A few years ago I paid £70 for a local residential locksmith (back in Essex) to open a front door (keys locked inside - bit of a pattern forming here!) so £100 for a vehicle specialist seems OK to me.

    Thanks for the info.

Sounds like a decent price 👍

Based on is a your previous experience, maybe you should have a locksmith on speed dial! 😁 😁

My vehicle was first registered October 2019 but even with Audi Connect it doesn’t support wireless Apple CarPlay.

live traffic updates and a couple of other features make it useful but not sure I would pay for it being honest.

I think wireless carplay was introduced on 2020 models.

There are some aftermarket options around.

Either way it is independent of audi connect but I think you need the audi smartphone interface for carplay /android auto to work.

  9. Glad you hot sorted Rhys and with no damage to the car 👍

The myaudi app is worth checking since it also alerts you when your alarm is going off and you can track your car too.

If you already have it set up then it must be a subscription that stopped the functions from working.

As I mentioned before, the last section on the app screen - individual upgrades/functions on demand gets you to the shop where you can purchase a remote services subscription. I suspect that you will need a connect licence/subscription too.

BTW - how much was the locksmith?

Hi all, I'm in the same position too. Apple CarPlay seems to work fine if I plug my phone in via a cable into the USB socket but does I need the vehicle code/Audi Connect for Apple CarPlay to work wirelessly? Also do I need it to view the car's service history?

I'm wondering if it's worth paying an Audi dealer for the code.

    Thanks!

A 2018 of model is unlikely to support wireless carplay (or android auto)

If you sign to myaudi /audi connect then you get access to the Internet other features.

If you want more than that then you need to register as the key user and that requires the dealer getting you 10 digit code.

CarPlay will work independently of this.
