  1. thanks for the links Steve, I always thought Audi's where a well put together car and capable of very high miles ? didn't realize they had so many potential problems ? I suppose all cars have there own weaknesses' it just seams as if there is quite a lot when they are all pointed out to you at the same time, cheers kev
  2. i must admit the allroad has caught my eye but the air suspension worries me from what I have heard its not if it goes wrong its when it goes wrong and they are big buks to get sorted cheers kev p.s I thought the allroads where all diesels ?
  3. thanks for your reply, any advice on which petrol engine to loot for ? there is quiet a big choice, which one of the engines would offer me a good turn of speed when needed and decent mpg + has a proven reliable strong engine? many thanks kev p.s at how many miles do audi recommend a cam belt change?
  4. Hi there, I am looking at buying another audi can any one recommend a vehicle to have a look at please? I will be looking at cars around 5,000 to 6,000 mark tops so obviously not a new one lol but will be new to me I was thinking an A6-(C6) or a A4-(B8) evant/estate car, engine not that shore about and with an automatic gear box I am in two minds about diesel or petrol ? most of the time I am just doing short journeys but come the spring and summer I can be doing a lot of motorway miles and would benefit from a good mpg ? the criteria, is a estate car that has a good turn of speed when needed, can handle a bendy road and not having to be at the fuel pumps every five minuets lol looking forward to peoples views ?

  6. hi there, I am looking at buying another audi can any one recommend a vehicle to go for and any to give a miss ? I will be looking at cars around 4000 to 5000 mark so obviously not a new one lol a b7 or b8 not to bothered if avant or saloon its the engines and gear boxes I am in two minds about the cars I have been looking at 2.0lt tdi s lines and 3.0lt s lines ( Quattro ) in either would be nice, I think the diesel cars would be best where mpg are concerned. can anyone advise me on which engine and gear box to go for so for I have seen advertised 1.9lt 2.0lt 2.5lt and 3.0lt in manual gearing or auto triptronic and so on I am no mechanic so don't really know if there are certain models that are better than others if you see what I mean. the criteria is a car that has a good turn of speed when needed, can handle a bendy a road without having to spend money on upgrading things and not having to be at the fuel pumps every five minuets lol or am I just asking to much of this model audi looking forward to peoples views ? cheers kev.
  7. Hi there, I have had my 2002 a4 1.8t 165bhp for a couple of years now and not long after I got the car I notesed a humming/buzzing sound coming from the back of the car when engine is running it never really bothered me so I left it alone but it seems to be getting a bit worse.so dose it sound like the fuel pump? Can I get a reckon ? Or would I have to get a new one ? Or are they expensive and I would be better off getting one off a breaker ? Oh and is it a job I could do my self or is it a garage job ? Cheers kev.
  8. Could anybody advise me on what could be wrong with my( 52plate A4 avant 1.8T ) when i turn the ignition on you can hear what i presume is the fuel pump start up at the back but when i start the car up there seems to be a constant wearing/humming sound coming from the back somewhere my even be the pump its self and it appears to stop just as i am bringing the car to a stop but only for a second and then starts again. any help would be appreciated cheers kev.
  9. lets try this how can i check to see if my turbo is doing what it should, like i said previously i had a vw passat tdi 130bhp and now have a lovely 52 plate a4 avant 1.8T 163 bhp the car its self runs great nice and smooth no smoke but seems to lack acceleration in the passat when you put your foot down from a standing start it would push you into your chair at around 2 &1/2 thousand revs and although the a4 certainly gets up there it doesn't seem to have much of a kick if you know what i mean. dont get me wrong i know its only 1.8 but i would have thought it would have felt just as quick off the mark as the passat if not quicker ? so know i was thinking there could be something wrong with the turbo or the way it works? i have never had one of these cars before so i don't know how they should be and any help or advice would be very much appreciated many thanks kev. p.s there is one thing i have found not quite right up at the back of the turbo there is a cat on the exhaust rattling inside has if it is broken inside.
  10. Hi there, just like to introduce my self i am coming up to 52 years of age and this is my first audi and i love it, sorry forgot to say it is an A4 1.8t sport avant.i have found it to be very well put together and an absolute pleasure to drive the only thing i would say is on my insurance it states that my car is (163 bhp) but i had a vw passat tdi estate (130 bhp) before this car and it felt quite a bit more powerful on exhilaration than my audi so i was just wondering if my car is (163 bhp ) or is it one of the other power plants that they fit in them ? could anyone advise how i could find out witch one it is ? as it dosn't tel me on the log book many thanks kev. p.s sorry to start with a question but i have found car forums to be a wealth of information to a none mechanic like my self.
