  1. From experience this is what i recall the system in its wider form allowing the following: - coasting (in gear) engine switched off/ idle RPM when braking coming to a stop or slight decline straight road. - allows for more frequent use of start/stop technology allowing greater battery usage. - allows energy recovery for the use of the system by breaking (for example). - supports electric hybrid turbo technology (spooling turbo by electronic means). the electrical storage system is designed to support auxiliary systems when the engine is off or reducing electrical load capacity for all of the above. You’d like to think it would have a massive effect on your MPG in a positive way but I think it equates to an additional 3mpg-7mpg subject to road conditions and driving style all around. In truth the funny thing about emission control is that it hurts the economy of the vehicle. The science behind it diminishes performance and reliability as well as hampering economic power delivery. if you were to take this engine and remove/modify all the ‘emission’ related components you’d actually likely get up to 30% noticeable gains in fuel economy and performance. Adblue is a huge contributing factor impacting poor fuel efficiency. They say Adblue doesn’t affect fuel efficiency, but in order to have the system it requires the exhaust to be hotter. How do you think they do that? By using more fuel! This system is literally a ‘fix’ to hide real fuel consumption numbers which would harm ratings and sales…
  2. Your notice a green pedal symbol which indicates it’s active. either the engine will switch off or it will idle. In order for it to ‘coast’ in gear it needs to be on a slight decline and straightish’ road. if the decline is steep or the road is quite bendy and the centre of gravity of the car is not stable. I have found it won’t work and likely to ensure the you the driver is in control and the car has all means of stability.
  3. Hi Gareth, Below images may be further assistance, the damage is a laceration caused by a narrow-sharp implement, possibly a screw driver or knife? I'm told the damage goes down all the way to the cord, which is why the tyres need replacing. They wouldn't conduct investigation to my steering issue simply because of the car being unsafe because of this damage. I've got to go back to get this checked. I'm curious for any opinion or experiences on what is shown because its so unusual to me, I've driven over plenty of sharp and dull implements unintentionally in my life time (claw hammers, saw blades, knifes etc). Never have I experienced an instance where the corresponding damage is located in exactly the same orientation (and size) in relation to the tread pattern. I've got new tyres on the way, I'm just worried ill have to replace them again because of some idiot going round stabbing tyres 😞
  4. I've subsequently got to get 4 new tyres on a vehicle that's done 15K miles due to aging as well as wear and tear not to mention the damage of the tyres
  5. I've been having some issues with driving recently, the car has a tendency to meander or tram line and feels like steering wheel has got feedback (resistance) as if the lane assist was on, obviously off, it was likely to be steering alignment. Anyways, they cant road test, wont carry out steering wheel alignment because I have the following damage (to cords) in my nearside front and rear tyres. What I find unusual is the fact the damage size is near enough exactly the same size object and location on the tyre tread pattern. What do you guys think? I'm starting to feel like this was done maliciously or possibly 'created' by the garage and i find that accusation wild to even consider or bring up?
  6. I changed mine to Auto having read this thread. its made a marginal improvement (previously around 42-44mpg) now 48mpg-51mpg. For context my colleague has a 2019 A6 3.0 tdi. 22K miles and does 45mpg-56mpg This goes back to the old argument about bigger engines working less hard to move mass (weight). And might be the case here.
  7. I've found sticking it in sports mode at junctions or roundabouts is less likely to switch off the engine with additional sharper gear changes to suit the pull off. Otherwise most of my pull aways are slow and certainly don't make much head way in the flow of traffic going 30mph+. User top-tip, if you want to avoid being rear ended!
  8. Sort of a newbie here with regards to Audi brand as well as the features. I struggled tonight managing to ascend slight inclines. My partner had to get out and push several times. Before we jump straight to snow tyres which is likely the default recommendation. Though I’ve never had the same problem with my VW estate (similar weight and power). Any tips/tricks? One of the most annoying things that happened tonight was that the car on detecting slip at low rpm cut the power, even after disabling traction control completely and in manual mode 2nd gear. Seems like an anti-stall feature. I tried to avoid Quattro models simply because the general increased service costs relating to transmission including tyres. Now I’m wondering whether that would have been the better option as an all rounder. I do a lot of business miles.
  9. absolutely not. I've worked in the motortrade for a number of years starting with Lotus ending with Rolls Royce. In-between spent a little time with some luxury brands such as Jaguar Land Rover, Mercedes and BMW. The issue you describe is a problem specific to Volkswagen Group UK. Customer service models are the same whether it is VW, Skoda or Audi. This problem is very specific to the group and i strongly recommend to complete the online satisfaction form without prejudice! I picked up on this owning my first new Audi and noted the service compared no different to my VW passat (daily driver) which I had for a number of years. I was a consultant for Nissan UK as they had a sharp decline in customer satisfaction scores for their Nismo range. As a mystery customer tasked by Nissan UK, I picked up a used/new GTR from a non Nismo dealer (arranged by Nissan) with a minor imaginary problem and booked it in with a Nismo approved franchised centre. Cutting a long story short I did this with 6 dealers up and down the country. The service was appalling when you consider the car I was driving cost £100K+ and I was getting the same level of customer service as someone whom spent less than £15K on a new car. Nissan realised this and sharply did a u-turn on their policy making, I think now the worst courtesy car you can get into as a GTR customer is/was the Juke Nismo. Just to add, Lexus have told their dealers to hire you a car if they cant provide you a similar model specification. When i worked at Lotus no mountain was high enough, we (the dealer or manufacturer) couldn't climb to support the customer. Bad customer rapport regardless of the cost was not an acceptable outcome.
  10. According to the dealer Audi ditched the 19 speaker option which included the pop up tweeters, something to do with getting hold of components to meet production schedules. Mine was a MY22 model, which when I had delivered late January 2022, I did not have the pop ups in mine having selected the C&S pack coming with only 16 speakers in total where as the 2021 registered MY19 model I test drove did.
  11. Same problem on my vehicle. I could replicate the problem... If you have downloaded my Audi app and someone else use the car using the same key but without the phone, key and car in syncing distance it resets to default on start up. I found this increasingly annoying every time the guy who cleans my cars took my vehicle and on return I had to run through all the settings again (folding mirrors etc).
  12. Well this is where it go confusing for me, during my order I had repeated phone calls from the dealer advising me of features that are going to be out and features that are going to be in. 2021 production going into 2022 the models and packs changed, for example all MY22 models no longer have the v6 engine only the S6 model. I have the LED headlights from the Vorsprung which wasn't available for the black edition, but became default for the MY22 models. This was not part of my original order specification, I actually wanted a Vorsprung model, but I was told the wait would be 9+months which is why i settled on the black edition.
  13. depends on your chosen spec I went for everything this was missing out of the packs. - Soft close feature on doors - phone wireless charging pad - individual tyre pressure monitoring - heated steering wheel - adaptive cruise control - integrated toll module there is a load of others but I can’t remember, them specifically.
  14. This! I have test driven (more than 24hrs) all but the 40TFSI engine variants of the C8,A6. It seems this specific problem to me relates only to the 2.0 tdi engine. I think it is caused by the start-stop function thus affecting throttle position sensor & electronic torque control resulting in some dangerous hesitation off the mark. This has happened to me at junctions and roundabouts and is more prevalent on round abouts as you come to a stop (<10mph) the engine decides to switch off then kick back on. having worked in the motortrade on hearing 'this is normal operating parameters for the vehicle' you know this is automotive language for 'yes sir, we know about it but according to warranty this is normal until everyone reports the same problem and they do a software patch (recall).' For those wondering... The reason i did not go for the v6 variants was purely down to tax/economical purposes.
  15. interesting i raised with my local dealer concerns about the low paint quality on these exact trims (my car is less than 6 months old) i had it taken to a detailer whom measured all the paint depths using two tools. the paint depth on the trims was shockingly low and the quality of paint was poor. it scratched just running a finger nail across it. Audi Warranty refused to accept any claim, I have had it logged for future complaint as i believe the same is likely to happen... image attached is my car's trims at 2 weeks old, 97 miles on the clock.
  16. What sort of power are you looking to achieve? anything over stage 1 you are probably going to need to look at a limited slip differential for a diesel because of the power delivery, if not a different ECU to manage power control as the OEM is not designed beyond stage 1 without other additions to manage the power delivery. I'm not exactly experienced with tuning audis but my previous Passat 2.0 TDI 2012 (144bhp) was tuned to 281bhp. to get that sort of punch beyond 30-40bhp (stage 1) you needed to consider a lot more components than you would typically do with a petrol (which is why petrol engines are preferred for competitive racing/tuning). to name a few... - larger/performance intercooler (lower air and engine temps always safer to work with when tuning) - air intake/filter (more air, cooler temps, more compression when added with more fuel!) - bigger injectors (more fuel, more power, you will likely need a uprated fuel pump to suit). - Turbo modifications (hybrid turbo) im aware that the c8 model has E-Turbo (electric turbo) i'm not aware of any benefits with tuning, in many cases tuners typically opt to remove in favour of a more conventional hybrid turbo given its more flexible tuning parameters. - Exhaust modifications, typically on any car with ad-blue is now considered a substantial overhaul when you start mucking about with anything beyond the manifold. Its benefits in gains are limited by the ad-blue system that needs to be mapped out. there is arguments in doing so will make the car illegal because of the emission requirement. I have been talked out of this many times on previous cars that use the system. equally it is by far the largest contributing factor preventing any big performance numbers compared to non-ad blue equivariant systems. - Limited slip differential(s), (specific to VAG automatics: gearbox tuning) if you have a Quattro be prepared for £1000+ invoice!
  17. I ordered mine in May 2021, expected build date week 51/52. dealership managed to wrangle me a vehicle matching my spec ordered for potential demo for dealer network and was flooded/damaged. i eventually got mine January 2022. was disappointed that a lot of the standard features on the 19/20/21 models missing due to short supply of computer components :(
