Fitted the part this morning - a pretty straight forward job after reading this thread and watching a great You Tube video from a guy called Dave Serl (below, others might find it useful). Took abut 4 minutes with a flathead screwdriver to unclip the part.
I had pumped the brake a couple of times with engine off before making the change. There was a slight hiss as I took the old sensor off, but that was it.
Closed bonnet, turned engine on and no more fault warnings, car seems to be running fine, have been for a few miles around the block and no issues so far on brakes, dare I say it all feels normal.
Fingers crossed have avoided destroying my ABS system. I drove about 30 miles after the first warning came on as I was on my way home, braking gently, but did not drive another mile after I parked up.
Goodness knows what might have happened if I'd carried on driving around whilst waiting to get a fix, as per the 'You can continue driving' message. Thanks to this thread I may have saved myself ££££, as I am just out of warranty...!
For £80 the problem seems to have been solved. Hope everyone else avoids the worst as well.
