  1. I bought an outside plug socket from B&Q which looks at first glance like a double socket but one half is all about fusing etc to minimise overloading. I wired it up using some heavy duty cable into another double socket's wiring, in my garage, on the inside of the wall to my new outside one. It's less than 2 feet away from the main property's fuse box. Had it now for over well over 2 years and never had an issue (touch wood) - Car 2021 A3 Sportback TFSI e
  2. Thanks - I've managed to raise my question through the OBD Eleven's online chat messaging system - just when and if they get back to me, I don't know. I'll post here should I learn anything
  3. @joe6 Thank you for staying with me 🙂 I have been looking carefully at getting an OBD Eleven 3 Pro, which comes with a 12 month Pro Plan and either 100 or 200 one-click-app credits. However whilst this indeed should allow me to view SFD 1 modules, I am unable to establish what information it would provide on my High Voltage Battery - I only want to learn about this, although I am sure it will provide me with loads of stuff that would be beneficial to me but not essential. Have you any idea what it would provide? - I don't seem to find this answer on OBD Eleven's website or how to speak with an agent - Thanks
  4. Have been reading some more and now understand OBD Eleven 🙂
  5. Thanks - you make valid points and that link is very helpful
  6. Thanks - that sounds very hopeful. What Software do you use with the OBD11 ?
  7. @spartacus 68 Thank you Richard once more - that explains things a lot for me and is so helpful. As I said I'm currently in communication with Gendan who have told me: - "The 3-VIN HEX-V2 interface you asked about will be compatible with the car – to a point. The 4th generation Audi A3 (2020-on – such as yours) was one of the first to be affected by VAG’s diagnostic firewall – SFD: https://www.gendan.co.uk/help/6-VCDS:-SFD-Diagnostic-Firewall/ At the moment, VCDS doesn’t support online SFD unlocking, you’ll be quite limited in what you can do on that car." Seems there may be an "Unlocking Facility" coming soon which will allow me to do what I want to do, so as there's no rush right now, I'll wait and check again sometime next year. But "small steps". Thanks once more for your assistance - much appreciated 🙂
  8. @spartacus 68 Thank you Richard, most helpful. I've written to Gendan to ask for some information before purchase but certainly from what I can tell this may be what I need. Pity it only appears to work on a PC - I own a PC but this is indoors, I normally use either an Android Phone or Tablet. But I should be able to borrow a laptop if I decide to go ahead. Can I assume that the extremely cheaper ones for sale (which seem identical) will not provide an interface such as you can download after you purchase the Gendan Device from ross-tech? Thank you again
  9. Thank you for your reply. I'm extremely surprised that Hydrid or EV Audi Owners haven't been posting similar questions to mine. Audi guarantee my battery for 8 years - it's currently 4yrs 7 mths old. It is a fantastic car and for the first time in a long history of owning Audis I am considering paying the Balloon Payment when my PCP deal ends in August 2027. However the price I'll get (trade-in or other) will doubtless focus on the state of the High Voltage Battery. I'd like to what OBDII Dongle & Software will allow me to monitor it's condition. Surely there's an Audi Owner out there that can help me? I've searched the internet et etc 'til I'm blue in the face and getting nowhere, hence coming on here. My final time in asking
  10. 1. I thought a TFSI e owner would be familiar with the MyAudi app 2. You state you know nothing about 1. so why mention it? I wasn't asking any question about it 3. You are a Moderator and don't own an Audi - sheesh! 4. You don't seem helpful enough to at least say what Opensource App you use 5. I never gave any expectation of a perfect battery when selling except to say SOH was important 6. I didn't require a lecture on battery use or indeed anything you've said 7. Please read posts properly before replying - I made my request for information perfectly clear: - I'll ask again for some other member to respond: - I've been searching to see if it is possible for me to check the State of Health of my Hybrid's EV Battery and seemingly getting nowhere. There are plenty of Dongles out there as well as Android Apps (I use a Samsung Phone & Tablet) but I cannot see any of them specifically supporting my car model. Has anyone achieved this at home or are we obliged to take to our Dealer?
  11. Well no. Of course the app tells me % charge and charging progress, but I'm talking about SOH (State of Health). I hope I'm ok posting this link, which explains things in more detail........................ https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c2dn5gxxgz1o and which has prompted my post. My Hybrid seems ok and is currently getting 30 - 33 miles on a max charge, which given temperature outside now, which is about what I've been getting since purchase (2nd hand) in Aug '23. But in next year or maybe in '27, I shall be wanting to trade it in and whilst Hybrids in particular and full EVs are selling well, these batteries don't last forever! The Audi warranty expires after 8 years so trading in my car with a less than a perfect HV Battery at say 5 to 7 years will doubtless impact the sale value considerably, given the cost of replacement. So I'm asking about SOH, the condition of individual battery cells along with performance and software data etc etc, which the MyAudi app does not provide. Anyone please?
  12. Hi I've been searching to see if it is possible for me to check the State of Health of my Hybrid's EV Battery and seemingly getting nowhere. 13. Needless to say the Passive cable didn't work. Seems I'm being forced to play via Bluetooth Audio! Does anyone know how to feed the MMI with analogue audio?
  14. @Chris the tester Hi Chris, that is interesting and a significant increase in last couple of months. Any thoughts as to why?
  15. @JMKC82 Thanks again Joe IMHO there's a lot of hog-wash out there concerning home charging particularly those, like me, not wanting to be sucked in to buying a home charger. First time I've heard that one though "if you constantly use the 3 pin plug. It 'stresses' the internal wiring, as they are designed for intermittent use. Basically the wiring heats up and degrades. Because you are putting a lot of load (13amps) continuously for 4-6 hours per day, every day...... " Hog-wash again I'd say. Using a purposely designed and equipped external 3-pin socket, wired with appropriate cable direct to the fuse box won't stress your home wiring. Now if you adopt a cheap extension lead then I agree you're going to have problems especially if, where you plug it in, the mains socket is on a ring main - that might be a different matter. Most if not all the concerns out there relate to charging EV's though NOT PHEV's. My current charging regime so far is that I'm charging no more than twice a week for about 4 hours a time. But a useful topic of discussion Joe and thank you for your input.
  16. @JMKC82 Thanks again Joe - that explains that very well. Not done a longish journey other than the one coming home after collecting the vehicle. Since then just tootling around. Yesterday before, for some reason unknown to me, I was locked out of my myAudi app, my capacity got to 30.7 - so perhaps just tootling around is starting to increase the battery capacity. What decided you on the home charger?, they seem quite expensive. At the end of this month my current fixed term energy contract with Octopus draws to an end and will switch to their variable tariff which will incorporate "Intelligent Octopus" so charging will cost me next to nowt. 4 to 6 hours Granny charging doesn't require one of these, so curious
  17. @JMKC82Thanks for replying Joe 😁 Compared to Analogue via std 3.5mm jack plug leads or Digital via USB no it definately is not. About 2 thirds the quality of a CD at best if you adopt, or can adopt a quality Codec - I play Hi-Res lossless music and even in my previous Q5 I can most definately hear the difference. But now I have an extremely quiet PHEV I can't believe Audi are forcing us to connect via Bluetooth. I shall see if the ordered Passive cable works and take things from there
  18. May I politely Bump this please
  19. Hi once more - the second of my two posts. As stated in the title there's no jack plug socket. I have been used to the older MMI during past 7 years and this new touch-screen digital one whilst looking very promising takes a bit of getting used to, particularly the lack of the former "control-knob". I am a HiFi enthusiast and always play my music at the highest resolution possible. Previously I deployed my current Samsung S21 Android phone using an external DAC which plugs into my phone and from which a std 3.5mm jack plug to jack plug lead was deployed. After trying out a USB c to female 3.mm jack socket lead the MMI recognises the DAC in the USB c plug (seems 99% of this type of connector cable are fitted with a DAC) but not my external one. The external DAC is an S3 HIDIZS Pro Ultra Portable Hi-Res Dongle and has worked fabulously. I have purchased a non-DAC enabled USB c to female 3.mm jack socket lead, which is called a "Passive" connector. Cheap as chips but is passive so that only the Analogue Sound signals pass through it, not the Digital ones. This is what I need but my question to the forum is, can the MMI accept Analogue Sound signals via one of its USB c sockets? Thanks in advance 4.8 (17 Reviews)
  20. Hi guys - I'm a new member but on my fifth Audi and family owns them too. Just come from 2 Q5's over past 7 years and bought the above (year 2021) a few weeks ago - so far absolutely delighted. This is the first of 2 posts and as this title suggests I am confused with what's quoted by Audi and what I'm getting in the real world. I've researched quite extensively but have a question please. Audi suggest up to 40 miles but I'm only getting 28 miles. At the moment I'm Granny charging here at home via the std 3-pin mains plug cable. It takes about 4 hours to get to 100% capacity from about 5 miles capacity - no complaints there. However when I got the car it had been on an external Charger of some kind at the Audi Dealership and it had about 33/35 miles capacity when I drove it home. I'm not a heavy footed driver and always keep to speed limits. I also know mileage capacity depends a lot on weather as well but this hasn't really changed up north a lot recently - quite warm (in the 20's) but is the capacity also influenced by the type of charging that is deployed? I haven't yet charged through an external charger as yet but will be doing when I go on a long trip towards the end of this month. I'd be grateful for an answer on this please - thanks in advance
