  1. Just ordered my 2016 (66 plate) A3 Saloon S Line S Tronic 2.0 TFSI Quattro (190PS) - I've gone for Daytona Grey, added Technology Pack, S Sport Suspension, Nappa Leather (in Rotor Grey), Heated Seats, Advanced Key, Hill Hold Assist, Parking System Plus and Auto-Dimming Rear View Mirror. I'd have liked to go to town on the options list, but the above gets me a better specced car than my current A4 without it costing me the earth. Obviously as my build hasn't reached the "confirmed" state with the factory order yet I'm still able to make adjustments/additions/removals from the spec above. Am I missing anything blindingly obvious that I "should" have?
  2. Better advice would be to simply reject the "offer". It's a massive money making scheme for the dealer network, almost all "profilt" as the actual products used are (or at least have) off the shelf (or equivalents). Either spend the money on buying your own detailing (cleaning, polishing, sealing, waxing) products from a reputable supplier (such as clean your car), or pay a proper auto detailer to do a correction with a DA/rotary (even a brand new car will likely need one, my 2013 A4 did) and then a decent seal/wax for you. Money spent on "supagard" or equivalent "services" is just money down the toilet in my experience. Surprisingly on the A3 Saloon order I made this week, I've ditched all of the dealer offered "services" (GAP, Wheel protection, gardX) as they are either useless, or available elsewhere not only cheaper, but with better products/services (such as ala.co.uk for the GAP insurance). Granted this is now "after the fact" so you are stuck with what you bought, but I'd still recommend getting some advice from somewhere like detailing world and then either buying some vastly superior products, or just paying a specialist to do it if you don't fancy the graft.
  3. I looked into this (to the point where I actually owned all the prerequisite parts). From the top of my head (as it was a few years ago now) you need: Wiring harnesses Ballasts Headlights (with bulbs, obviously) Auto-Levelling actuators Auto-Levelling control module Auto-Levelling harness Light switch (without manual levelling knurled wheel) (After this you could also go down the route of getting a new bumper and the relevant washer parts, I wasn't going to bother) You'll also need some VCDS or dealer coding done (I can't remember if any of the parts had component protection). I ended up selling the bits off as I decided that the effort required negated the benefit. Unless yours is a particularly well specced example (is it a plain SE or an SE Technik, at least a Technik will have MMI/Nav) and literally the only thing that's missing is the Xenons (seems odd that someone would fully spec a car without Xenons), I'd imagine the same will be true for you as well. Feel free to prove me wrong though
  4. Hi to all :) I'm new here, but definitely not new to Audi. I've been an avid retroiftter and tinkerer with various generations of Audi over the last 5 years. My last 3 cars have been (from oldest to most recently owned): 2008 (57 plate) A6 Avant S Line 2.0 TFSI Manual. - This was the last of the pre-facelifts, so unfortunately no DRLs. It had MMI 2G High, heated front sport seats, black leather, Daytona grey paint. I had it remapped, then I retrofitted AMI (including the glovebox swap so I could retain my multichanger), and APS+ (to the point where my local dealer didn't realise it wasn't factory fitted when I traded it in - and an Audi Tech bought it!). Purchased on 120,000~ miles, ran until 140,000 miles when a change in circumstance meant that I could really do with a Diesel, and I was getting a car allowance (with some restrictions on age/mileage) so I ordered... 2012 (62 plate) A4 Saloon SE Technik 2.0 TDI (136PS) - This was Silver (Mistake one), and only had MMI 3G (not 3GPlus, second mistake). I disliked the Silver paint from day one, but took the car as it was "in stock", I also discovered that the MMI 3G in the car didn't support "3D map view" which my A6 had, this also annoyed me. Fortunately this car only lasted me 4 months due to niggling electical problems, and an issue with the front bumper (from collection date) which led to 3 visits to an "approved" Audi (Inchcape) bodyshop, and ultimately in the car being rejected and replaced with... 2013 (13 plate) A4 Saloon SE Technik 2.0 TDI (136PS) - Moonlight blue, heated seats, and MMI 3GP were what I gained over the previous car. I gelled with this one much much quicker, and was relatively happy, other than the front end looking a little "low rent" with it's awful looking halogen headlights (should have specced Xenons). I did buy all the neccesary parts and equipment to retrofit, but decided the work to actually get the self-levelling working simply wasn't worth it. I did however add a genuine gloss black grille surround, and figured out what hardware I needed to add Google Maps integration without paying for the ridiculously priced MMI option that adds the SIM tray (a bit of engineering menu changes, some VCDS and a simple USB to Ethernet adapter and a 3G Router, which I bundled into a nice neat box, this then plugs into the AMI to give your MMI unit a 3G internet connection). Just this week I've ordered my replacement car, which I'm estimated to receive in late October. 2016 (66 plate) A3 Saloon S Line S Tronic 2.0 TFSI Quattro (190PS) - I've gone for Daytona Grey, added Technology Pack, S Sport Suspension, Nappa Leather (in Rotor Grey), Heated Seats, Advanced Key, Hill Hold Assist, Parking System Plus and Auto-Dimming Rear View Mirror. I'd have liked to go to town on the options list, but the above gets me a better specced car than my current A4 without it costing me the earth. Hopefully that's a good enough intro, and I'll likely get active in the A3 8V section shortly :)
