Hello, I wondered if anyone could help. I drive a Audi A6 on a 05 plate which is the 3.0L TDI Quattro with an Auto box. At 1500rpm (pretty much exactly) I am getting a terrible judder from the car. This can occur at any speed but only comes when the accelerater is pressed lightly (say in steady traffic). Any more and the revs change and it stops. If I knock it into manual mode the judder stops at the same rev range. So it's just in auto mode. I have had the 14(?) onboard computers checked with a VW/Audi diagnostics machine. Nothing wrong was found but I think these tests were mainly engine related. Has anyone else got this issue? Any questions please ask. Thanks

A3 Quattro 2.0T......Gearbox Thud at crawling speeds??
jonny127 posted a topic in Audi A3 (8P) Forum
Hi guys! I have a 54 plate A3 Quattro 2.0T and I've had it for a few months now. At crawling speeds it makes a clearly audible thud when moving off, and feels the same as when your handbrake might stick (Its not the brakes as i've checked those .This wasnt much of a problem until it began to get worse (more knocking noises). I suspect that its a loose driveshaft connection and is just taking up the torque. A month or so after i bought it it developed a misfire so took it back to the dealer who fixed it under warranty. the procedure for removing the head somehow involved removing most of the 4WD system and gearbox etc and a week after i got it back it developed the above noise, and so naturally i suspec that that may have been the cause. My question to you lot is whether any of you have experienced such a noise, and what did you do to fix it? Many thanks!- 1 reply

Hi all, hoping one of you geniuses can help.... Just recently there appears to be a jolt coming from the transmission tunnel area of my 2005 a6 4.2 quattro auto. It only happens at a certain speed and when the car has been on a long run. Its fine under acceleration, on motorway and higher speeds. It happens at approx 40 miles an hour when holding a constant speed and is very intermittent, some days nothing sometimes 4/5 times a day but only when the car has been running for an hour or so. It is quiet noticeable at the time then seems ok for a bit. Is it a sign of bad things to come??? :( Many thanks for any help!

Hi All, I am new to posting I usually just lurk and soak up knowledge from others... but today I am so dissapointed about my latest Audi A3 from The Carshop in Swindon I need reassurance I am still safe to drive it. I bought my A3 as a returning customer to Carshop, I had a 2009 Audi in grey previously from them which I PX'd for a 2010 in Red. It is a lovely car just like my 2009 model but has 6 gears instead of 5. It has jumped out of gear on but only on seven or so occasions and only in low gears probably 1st pulling away or 2nd turning right over the past 3 months. I assumed initially it was my inexperience of having 6 instead of 5 gears but as it continued to randomly pop out of gear into the second month of owning it, and when I actually saw the gear knob jump from the corner of my eye I reported it to Carshop within their 3 month warranty period. My problem is that it will not replicate the fault to order and they have 'looked' at it twice now and say it is afe to drive and no apparant fault. I am not happy and despite them saying wait till it develops a more serious fault we cannot do anything. I have also had my time wasted driving miles from Abingdon to Swindon twice now to have them look at it. I did ring and ask a gearbox mechanic his advice and he said it was most probably something inside the gearbox and looking at it externally would not show anything. I have complained to them but this is their response.car shop reply Miss Woodward.doc
