This stream auto-updates

  1. Past hour
  2. Yeah it’s still driveable
  3. Update so im seeing that it could be the coolant control valve has corrosion from a coolant leak and is quite a common problem.
  4. Today
  5. Well she's still sitting level so no leaks yet......damn,I just had to say that......we shall see. For the moment all seems OK. I have no doubt I'll be back with other sob stories 🤣
  6. Good news mate, happy days.
  7. Oh i understand that pal, i have had cars in the past that the only thing that it never broke on me was the speed limit!!!! Im just glad you got sorted!
  8. It seems my beloved Audi will live to drive another day. All that is wrong with it is the fuel injector sensor. Nothing wrong with fuel injector or the ECU, just the sensor.
  9. So the haldex has basically failed leaking and noisy. Have been advised to replace or repair cost of a new unit seems prohibitive, so looking for a low mileage replacement or an overhauled exchange unit with warranty.
  10. What are you asking for John? Price, brand, garage, method, special tools? There no cost to using more words in your question.
  11. Any recommendations for Haldex replacement/repair
  12. I believe in my case the alarm/immo is built in the pump itself. I have not found any box for the immobilizer in the car.
  13. Well, ya know how it is when you've had......2 rear air bags, 2 alternators, a battery, a headlamp leveling control module, a crankshaft vibration damper and a serpentine tensioner pulley, you sorta reckon it's gonna be the most expensive repair there is.... the part that went south( literally in this case!) was the ball joint joint and the rod was rusted so thin I was able to bend it with finger pressure. I have a respectable collection of bits myself but nothing that could do the job needed. Good story anyway, cheers.
  14. Well the issue might have been found in the boot loom connector. Unfortunately i do not have time to fix it now but i will see in the comig days.
  15. It’s £900, all the reg sales companies value it at between £1100 & £1250, cheers
  16. Recently had a friend that was having a similar issue..... Same kind of car, came out of a roundabout and heard something "Pop". Told himself he hit a stone or something and thought no more of it until he said the "Ride got stiffer and bumpier" as he went along. Got about 15 mins from my place and gave me a call! I went down and there he was sitting lower than my D3 A8. Jack out, wouldnt fit under the car.... Wooden blocks out and drove up onto them to get the jack under the front end. Turned out his suspension link (Bottom arm to ride height sensor) decided that it no longer wanted to be connected at both ends..... And the little Ball joint that it connects into was broken and half of it was in the suspension link itself. Into my little box of tricks and i pull out a little bag full of small ball joint fittings, a 9mm spanner and a 10mm spanner. Remove whats left on his lower arm and replace it with a new one! a bit of fiddling and cursing and i got the ball out of the link bushion and popped it back onto the new ball joint! Bingo hes back in action! He had been pricing new struts, new compressors and all sorts while i was on the way to him and he was a very dejected man when i handed him my keys and told him to go get us a coffee while i had a look!!!!! When he arrived back and i told him i had a diagnosis and a price for him to be back on the road he looked like he was going to have a stroke!!!! I told him it wasnt as bad as he thought and told him he would be back on the road in about 15 mins and for the price of "Free" and i thought he was going to drop in front of me! I always tell people when theres a problem like this, not to think of worst case straight off as often there is a simple enough solution!
  17. On your phone bluetooth menu, select the mmi connection and check the settings allowed. you should have a couple of options in there like the pic attached. Make sure the Media audio option is allowed. (thats the first thing i would do anyway)
  18. I have a private plate for sale S4 AOO, on retention and ready to transfer
  19. Have you checked the engine or gearbox mounts? Could it be a clutch/dmf issue?
  20. Any second hand one or new one will need to be coded to the car.
  21. I wish you luck.
  22. James. The distinction between remanufacture/rebuild/repair is almost nonexistent. They all amount to exchanging worn parts for new. I believe you have two choices. One, go to Audi and pay a large fortune for the repair. Two, find a specialist gearbox repair company and only pay a small fortune. Don't be tempted to buy a secondhand unit and least of all don't buy one from Ebay.
  23. Thank you for your reply. I have the invoice for brake pads ( dated 18//07/23) and they are Borg and Beck BBP1766 from Motor Parts Direct - I have checked their web site and they are correct. I note new discs were also fitted at the same time supplied by them BBD4509, which are correct. With regard to carrier wear the car has done 12500miles, and don't believe the car has been driven hard, since I know the previous owner, who has owned the car from new. Thank you for the very helpful diagrams and note the only spring on the caliper shown is on the outer which I have replaced. I find this unusual as other calipers I have worked on have springs in the base of the carrier and hold the pads tight in the holder. I have ordered some ceramic brake grease and will carry your recommendations and will let you know. Thank you again.
  24. Audi A4 B8 2013. MMI let's me connect my phone for calls but not for audio. I had an issue a while ago where the MMI wouldn't work at all, but got that sorted, turned out to be a fuse. Everything was then working fine, it's just suddenly stopped playing the audio through my phone. Any ideas please? Thank you
  25. The problem is vibration between one and 2000 revs after that, the car drives fine
