  2. Wondering why have you - impulse bought? - a new battery Paul, without having the existing one tested first. What brand battery did you buy, as a matter of interest?
  3. Today
  4. Just got in the car..wont start again...that's every morning since the abs.pump was fitted last Friday..bought a new agm battery yesterday..gonna put that on..see what happens..put it on ..turn ignition on..wait 2 mins..start it and drive about for 15mins??
  5. This has came off my button for volume, is there anywhere I can buy the black button as it’s fell of and I’ve lost it in my car somewhere.
  6. Try connecting via the usb-c connector near the handbrake (under the cover), I use that with my iphone and always charges and works OK. Not tried using that USB connector myself by the 12v socket under the dashboard area, it might be that is more suited to USB storage as opposed to for charging. As you've an Android phone it might be that its expecting a QC/fast charge port and that may just be a more regular USB port with 5v 2.4A output.
  7. Tinyflier

    Fuel

Shell V-Power or Tesco Momentum. If I can't get either I "splash" a few litres of other fuel in until I can load up with either of my two preferred fuels.
  8. Really appreciate the advice, encouragement and film tips - thank you!
  9. I’m looking to buy a 2015 2.0 Tdi S-line 181. It’s an ideal spec for me, however there’s a 35k gap in the history from 2018-2021 and simply can’t trace it. What does the hive mind suggest I do? Is there a service that can trace it? Thank you very much in advance!
  10. Yes it’s a great colour. It was my first choice when I was looking for an 8p many years ago. Couldn’t find the right one and ended up with larva grey … which was my third choice but grew to love it 😂 nice car there rybrook… future classic for sure.
  11. Hi if as Gareth said you invest in a trim removal kit the job is fairly straight forward start at the top and work your way round down the right side, the cover has a push in locking system at the bottom so once the top and sides are free lift the cover up and out, depending on the model some of the covers are glued to the rear lumbar adjustment this can be removed from the metal plate with a bit of persistence and re attached with velcro, heat the plastic with a heat gun but you have to keep the the heat moving whilst pushing gently from the inside with the plastic handle of a screwdriver or similar, did a lot of this with bumpers during the eighties they took a bit of time as they were a lot thicker but the fact is ABS plastic will always try and go back to its moulded shape. PS any clips you need to replace are on Ebay at a tenth of the price from the dealer. Steve.
  12. If the car is in good shape and has been well cared for then I see no problem in driving there and back. However I would test its condition well in advance of the holiday by putting it under stress on a long fast drive of at least half an hour. That should reveal any defects to be sorted out before departure.
  13. It's got an agm on it. Never had starting problems until the abs pump was changed last Friday. Not started every morning since. I've bought a new agm battery yesterday but not fitted yet. Not started the car today yet..but no doubt if running to form..it wont start today..
  14. The chances are that the battery is faulty. Your simple voltage test is meaningless and tells you little about the battery's internal condition. If it is more than five years old it is worth replacing without further evidence or testing. I don't think it needs to be coded to the car at that age, but I am not certain so check with somebody knowledgeable.
  15. Just a little extra on this. It wasn’t an especially strong pre-schooler that caused the damage as the seat as power adjust. I would have expected some sort of safety mechanism to stop the recline when resistance was encountered (someone’s legs for example or, as in this case, an isofix seat base) but apparently not 🤷‍♂️ still haven’t given the repair a go. Will update when I do. cheers Graham
  16. I’m having the same issues as well mine comes up with these codes. It’s an Audi A4 2010 (Diesel) P123700 - Passive/sporadic - Fuel injector cyl. 1 open circuit P123900 - Passive/sporadic - Fuel injector cyl. 3 open circuit P124000 - Passive/sporadic - Fuel injector cyl. 4 open circuit P123800 - Passive/sporadic - Fuel injector cyl. 2 open circuit P106500 - Active/Static - Fuel Pressure regulation contour difference
  17. audi quoted him £600. initially, and said it may be covered by the warranty, which it was, so a vast saving. (one happy brother) kind regards Brian.
  18. Hello Thomas, Certainly viable in my book! If it were mine, I would totally ignore the FSH, and irrespective of when the last service was clone, I would be getting a comprehensive service carried out by a trusted local garage before departing. Equip yourself with a reputable get-car-and-yourself- home-by direct-route breakdown cover, and relax and enjoy it. Having said that, driving the Amalfi coast would not be for me! I have an issue with heights. Look up an old film - ‘Chase a Crooked Shadow’ - enjoyable suspense and well worth a watch. Prepare for the journey and enjoy. Let us know how you get on. Kind regards, Gareth.
  19. They really do like to test us 🤣 I got it from gt traffic so hope it's OK. This is going to be a love hate relationship I know it 😆 I don't suppose you know the size bolts that go in the cat heat shield do you please? 2 are missing and my goodness, making a right racket!
  20. Hello Martin, Welcome and thanks for joining. Can we take it you are addressing the issue with the garage that fitted the belt assembly for you? How long did the garage have the car while doing the belt? I ask since the stop/start problem maybe associated with a slightly below par battery - aggravated by remaining uncharged for a while. Is the battery on this 7 year old car it’s original one? If so, it would be worthwhile having its efficiency checked - Halfords stores will do that. It would be to your advantage to come back to us if found to be substandard, before committing to buy a new one. Kind regards, Gareth.
  21. Has the battery been coded to the car? If the car thinks it's got an agm and it's actually a lead acid leads to a lot of problems.
  22. If the build record shows it was built in 2019 Jay, then it was built in 2019 - rather like anyone’s birth certificate. If there are any anomalies then they could be accounted for by component supply issues due to Covid. I think you should now take up any discontents with the selling dealer. Kind regards, Gareth.

  24. The 10th letter of your VIN is supposed to tell you year of manufacture. In my case the 10th letter is an L, suggesting 2020. However the Build info says 2019... https://www.alldata.com/us/en/support/repair-collision/article/vin-to-year-chart https://www.webuyanycar.com/free-car-check/what-year-is-my-car/
  25. No idea about the battery, I didn't even think of checking it, however I have had it connected to my artidiag while running and it shows 13.1v. I think I'll call into the stealers, to see about the coilpacks recall and see if it has been updated to lower the o2 sensor temperature. I have another modification to do to it, I have the touareg pcv pipe to fit as the one in the cam cover is burping every cycle.
  26. A friend of mine recommends Autel.
  27. So this happened within the first year of your ownership? Which would be less than 5 yrs since the car's first registration date? I ask because you may have some redress here through use of consumer's right act (1st October 2015). Basically you've 5 yrs in Scotland and 6 yrs in England, Wales and NI, through courts to show - using an expert - that the product was faulty all along. I'll try and dig up more info. Audi as with any other manufacturer will deny any fault. You take them to court and they usually buckle before any judgement is passed, as they don't want to make a rod for their back. A gentleman I know of took Apple to court in the UK over a faulty battery on a 5yr mac book. Apple laughed and so they went to court. Said gentleman won the case. Apple now have a rod made regarding laptop batteries. Foote v Apple.
