  2. I just bought a 178k Bitdi for £6k. It's got a full history with oil changes every 10k miles but gearbox oil not changed (or at least can't find any record). Drives like a dream and in great condition. Spoke to owner who had it from registration until 2021 and also his mechanic who looked after it once out of warranty. Been through 2 others in quick succession with less miles but again service schedule maintained. So it's a good car with a good provenance. Last guy did rear air suspension, serviced and gave it new tyres. This car has been loved! But I am terrified the thing is going to crap out - I have read too many horror stories about turbos, compressors, gearboxes, DPFs and EGRs and that it's just a matter of time. Am I mad? would you guys have done it?
  3. Thanks for the suggestion daveyboy1967. Good idea. in the end I tried leaving the car with the rear facing the sun so that the plastic of the replacement window would get really hot. That, along with some repairs to the zip, which had detached from the hood in one area (I used a Speedy Stitcher to stitch it back into place) seems to have done it! There are some creases, and I did have to use some clear sealant to improve the rubbish gasket that came with the window, but it’s ok. Certainly worth a punt rather than shelling out for a new hood or travelling to Coventry to get a new window stitched in. At least now it’s waterproof and presentable.
  4. Hi ALL I have an Audi 80 Cab (1999) (1.8 ADR) and have a warm start issue. I have systematically gone through all parts on the injection system (MFC, Hall, knock sensors, pump, filter etc) and electrics. Appears to be starved of fuel, the next plan is to inspect/replace injectors. Appreciate any thoughts, I have health stock of bits and happy to share stories, I own her for about 20 years. Thanks John
  5. Thanks Steve, good to know the screens are the same. Do you happen to know if the the letter at the end of the part number is relevant as I cannot see the part number until the old screen is out which is unfortunate as it seems quite a big job to remove it, find the exact part number, replace the old one (although not working) while I source a replacement. Once again any advice gratefully received!!

  7. Not sure changing tyres will make that much difference. I think the car lacks insulation. I did try stuffing the boot well with towels to see if it helped - it didn't. Lack of insulation combined with low profile tyres is the cause I suspect. I had forgotten I was still on this forum. I'll be leavinfg it now. Good luck.

so im looking around and it's saying due to the car being over 10 years old it wouldn't necessarily have come with a COC, but i'm just trying to fond out a little more as if this was supplied it may have negated any of the issues im now having and trying to correct ! Got no idea how i go abut getting one though.
  10. Hi. A6 C7 Ultra 2.0 TDI.2016. Under heavy acceleration the glow plug light comes on and goes into emergency mode. Resets during the ignition cycle. Could anyone help me to sort this problem. P029900 Coolant pump for charge pressure cooler, OPEN CIRCUIT. 0x00646E unknown fault code

sorry that would have helped!!!! Its come in from Japan. First got registered in the UK in FEB25, frst registered in Japan in March 2014.
  12. I have used the brembo 17z 6 piston ones, they bolt to the hub carrier but I had to use a 16.5mm drill on the old mounts, then a nut and bolt. I also had to change the bolt on bearing and hub as it is a wide track car, so I used standard bolt on audi a6 c5 parts. I used a Mercedes c class 330mm discs, but had to drill the wheel stud holes from 12mm to 14mm, also enlarge the centre hole a tiny bit. The brake hose will be probably for a porsche cayenne. I can imagine it being easier on a standard track c5, with bolt on bearing as that wouldn't need changing.
  13. For legality it's better to have the adblue working so try cliffs way first if possible. As getting it mapped out is technically illegal
  14. Yeah done this but the guy recommended remove the adblue. You reckon this is unnecessary then? I don't know just going off what he said. To be fair he also said it won't do anything as the system is no longer working but as a precaution.
  15. Thanks. I have no idea what's causing this drain, it was back at 10% again this morning, regardless of what I thought the other day 🙂 I've got a lot to do, my passenger seat stopped moving, but that's OK as I have to put the original box in both seats since the memory doesn't work when I swapped them. Got new headlights, the MMI screen is a mystery to me as to how it's held in. I think I need an expert to solve that battery first, in England it's not too bad, but Finnish winters are hard on batteries, well, everything really 🙂
  16. This is fantastic advice thanks for this. I'm going to pin the post for other members 🙂
  17. To add I doubt any Audi dealer would fit a performance chip.
  18. The door issue could be an issue with the striker unit. Older audis suffered from this like the A6 C5. The seat movement could be an issue with the switch.

Where has it been important from? You might be able to get a certificate of conformity from VAG for it which will state the emissions.
  20. Might be worth speaking to autologics or Audi retrofits to see if the alarm can be coded out.
  21. Well cheers mate.....I've been umming and ahing about getting a diagnostic tool for this but have no idea which one to get. Bearing in mind the age of the car and its value I'm wondering if it'll be worth buying one. Which model would you suggest and how much might it be.....I'll sit down before you reply.....🤑
  22. Id definitely say it could be the megatronics unit. You could send this off to be tested.
  23. I think the screens are the same, so as long as you get a screen with the same part number you should be fine.
  24. Could it be an issue with the thermostat?
  25. Id recommend a diagnostic check to see if any fault codes flag up but I'll bet it's either an issue with a leaking suspension airbag, failed air compressor or air compressor relay.
  26. I'd recommend a diagnostic check to see if any fault codes flag up, as it could be an issue with the control module.
  27. I agree with Richard. Wire case scenario the megatronics unit is on the way out.
