Hi Gareth was naive to think a new OE part fitted for last 2 months could still be the issue, but looks like it is. They will probably fitting the same type again. But hoepfully this one will work. Getting done next Thursday, will report back. Thank you for reply and thoughts

Looks stunning!

Very nice 👍

please keep us posted on how you get on

Different coil packs could imply the previous owner has been trying to fix this issue for a while. Make sure the guy deleting any codes saves notes them down first. Please keep us posted on how you get on

Dear All, I just wanted to remove my oil pan on my 2.0 TDI CGL 177ps multitronic Avant because of leaking (damaged draing plug hole). Everything is removed in the area, no bolts are holding the pan but I'm still not able to pull off, don't have enough space. I'm a bit confused at the moment, at the front I've also removed A/C compessor and removed 2-2 bolts from subframe but it is not moving anything...How can I create more space, any idea?

I had a panal beater paint the bumper and fix some damage, and since then a large amount of water was found where the spare tire lives. I have no idea how the water is getting in,but notice a large gap in the panels by the lights?!? is this normal or could they have put the wrong parts back on. Also my back window whiper is acting all weird and not working as it once did and the boot lights look old/all dull now too.

also the fuel said 20 miles left, and i topped it up today before seeing this with £8 worth of premium unleaded. As because the car has been sat for a year hardly used i thought it best to get some fresh fuel in it.

I had the carbon clean guy booked in, Its not overly expensive, £90, and for that he is going to also scan it delete codes and rescan etc and let me know what comes up. Currently although i have the car, The dealer has let me take it with no charge, to see if i can fix the issue, The dealer has been fair in this regard. I figured for £90 it was worth the gamble with the clean, whilst also having the codes looked at as i dont have a scanner myself. So he is due tomorrow morning. and i will know more then. Im hoping his scan can tell me what the issue is, fingers crossed. I did find a bill in the glove box for 8 spark plugs, and 1 coil pack. Also when i looked under the bonnet, there is a mixture of coil packs, a mixture of black and red coil packs, Is this normal ? maybe different brands etc are conflicting with each other, and im wondering why they only bought 1. well lets hope tomorrow brings good news lol

Considering buying a new A3, what are the weak points.

This forum doesn’t have any issue with your user name either, but it does have certain standards in relation to actual names, and my personal view is that by changing it from ‘D’ to ‘&’ is simply an attempt to be clever and to extract the urine - impolite! I’ll refrain from further comments about your posts and wish you, and those you deal with at the dealer, good luck with your purchase. There we are then! -

perfect thanks, I've jacked her back up and found a slightly loose starter earth but surely that wouldn't be it. i will disconnect the alternator plug and check the draw. ill keep you updated. i will have closer look at the multi meter to get the amps in the correct power. seen as i've only fiddled with the starter i assumed it would be that but alternator could be a shout.ill update tomorrow once ive had a fiddle about.

Thanks for the info about the Alternator problems and Audi's initial reluctance to cover it. It would seem in Europe then manufacturers just ride roughshod over customers problems with their manufacturing/design faults, but seem to listen to these Class Action Suits that the Americans pull to sort things out. This is something I can grill the salesman on or just approach the Service Manager and talk technical, though it seems not all are technically qualified to a level to understand the workings of the cars their mechanics (hardly techicians) work on. It was a poor show that the salesman could not furnish me with a colour brochure listing all the A3 models, differences and technical specifications, their website or any other car manufacturers website just doesn't cut it. He quoted me £31k for the S, would that be on the road, as that is what I asked for. I don't do HP or lease, I have more sense. Normally keep the car 10 -14 years any way. As soon as they went to common rail fuel systems on diesels couple with a dpf, plus all the sensors thats when they started getting problems with engines. Common rail fuel systems on diesel engines is about 110 years old, so nothing new. It wasn't Rudolph that designed the Compression Ignition Engine, but a pupil of Newbury Grammar School who came from the High Wycombe area. He had the true CI engine to market made by Rustons of Lincoln before Rudolph was able to sort himself out, in fact Rudolph stole the idea and patented it. The term F*a*g paper is a colloquial term for a fine clearance used by Engineers world wide, nothing to do with the LGBTVD&scar brigade. Perhaps the Woke filter should have a bypass fitted. Is there anyway that one can edit a post later as my eyesight sometimes lets me down when tapping out the letters with the stylus and I don't see the typos until later? The system asks for a Username which can be anything that can be used in mixed company, Mareng is my user name as it reflects my background. Never had a problem with usernames in the past 25 years. -
