Audi Q7 3.0 tdi Major starting problems!! J518 j644 bad earth or starter?

Featured Replies

Hi, had nothing but problems with Engine starting up. Common problems like everyone else long cranking, blowing out white smoke from unburnt fuel, take 2/3 times to try and start it until it finally ticks over.

I’ve also had to do the j518 module repair as I lost all lights on the dash and turning the key did absolutely nothing.

when starting the car after the j518 repair. It was still the same as before with long cranking etc. But only worse, as dash lights would flicker (as if the battery had died) but would still start eventually.

But now there is no crank when turning the key. Light come on dash as they should. But does not even try and start. Just a puff of air from under the bonnet.

Vagcom states J644 battery control module is faulty. This has been replaced but still states it’s faulty.

Do I have a bad earth? Bad starter? Anyone had this problem?
