Original key

Featured Replies

Hi, best place to get an original Audi blank key & cut , obviously I’m thinking dealer, but would they be expensive?
Thanks

Hi Kieran. My Coupe came with the wrong key blank, it should be the square topped black plastic with Audi moulded in, which I guess you know already? I searched high and low and the best I could find was the correct shape but without the Audi logo moulded in. I bought them off Ebay and had them cut at Timpsons but they are not strictly meant to cut customer supplied blanks so you'll need to find a branch or staff member willing to do you a favour. If you can wait a while I can provide the manufacturer's code for my correct blank, that said the slot profile of yours might be different but the blank manufacturers website (Silca I think) has all the images you need to match up yours then you go searching the internet armed with the manufacturers code.

Hi Kieran. Here are some pictures of the key blanks I found. These are Silca brand with code WT7BP but there are other brands out there making equivalents. I'm quite persistent at searching for stuff as it used to be my job in the engineering field so it took some detective work to find the manufacturer sites and scour the catalogue pages comparing the metal blade profiles until I found the correct one then using the WT7BP code I found them on Ebay. I even tried to buy 20pcs from a USA supplier but they would not ship to me. Hope some of this is helpful. BTW, the self adhesive four ring logos are also from Ebay and I plan to fix them to the cut key to cover up the Silca logo - near enough to the original spec for me.

That’s fantastic, I did see these , but was hoping to get an Audi blank. A few years ago I did manage to get VW blanks & had them cut at timsons. I like your idea on the stick on logos, I might just give Audi a ring, to see the price of an original. Cheers

Do you have the link for the Audi logo’s?
Thanks

Let me know how you get on finding originals. I would still prefer that to the ones I found. I'm a bit of a stickler for originality.

I don't have a link as these were left over from when I bought a spare flip key for a TT I had a couple of years ago. If you search Ebay for something like Audi flip key four ring logos you should find them I can measure one up for you if that helps. Ideally I would like to find a way to mill a recess into the plastic so the logo sits flush as I suspect the adhesive will struggle to hold if stuck on proud. I like a challenge.

Sorry I thought I had replied, top marks for intuition! 👌
