Does it have a DPF?  If so you may have to take it for a long drive - at least 1/2 hr, minimum 40mph plus, to clean the filter.

I agree with Boz, if it is DPF (diesel particulate filter) then you need to run it up the motorway. I usually run it in a higher gear slightly to get the revs up and this cleans the filter nicely.

 

However, as your car is a 2000 model, I am not sure it has a DPF
