Injector Cleaners

Featured Replies

Good Morning.

My Audi A4 has recently developed an issue when idling. It only happens after about 3 minutes, presumably when the choke switches itself off? I had a local dealer run a diagnostic and they discovered that all of the  Glo Plugs were an "Open Circuit". I had then replaced but still have the same issue. Som epeople have suggested I try and injector cleaner, some say not to go down that route.

My gut feeling is that one of the injectors is or is about to fail, so any advice would be welcome reference putting injector cleaner in.

If they were open circuit then it would have been a sod to start in the cold....so if its starting easily, its not going to be the glow plugs now.

More than likely an injector issue. Would highly recommend using a fuel cleaning additive for several tanks and a good blast to clear the engine through.

Let us know how you get on with it

Cheers  Trevor

Thank you.

I took my car to a Diesel Injection Specialist who suggested that there was a leaking seal on one of the injectors. The symptoms all matched as he said if the car had been left standing the furl would leak into the cylinder and ten on start up the excess fuel would be burnt off causing a lumpy ride. Once burnt off there would be no issues.

This unfortunately seems to be spot on.

The only solution is to carry on regardless, or to have the seals replaced. It would need all four as impossible to tell without removing them?.

They will also remove and test the injectors. It is a long process which involves taking off the rocker cover etc.

So the question is how much does it bug me?

Will try the cleaning fluid first though, thank you for the advice.
