In case anyone else has this issue, it was the oil filter cap. Replaced today with a new one and a Mann filter and no leaks. Must've been over tightened by last owner. Cheap fix in the end!

Nobody has posted about this but as it's a known problem ant there is a TSB in various parts of the world about it I thought I'd post my experience. It may be better in another part of the site as it's relevant to all Quattro Ultra. I drive briskly but not hard so I don't know how often the rear differential engages. I was waiting to turn right at traffic lights. a sharp 90 degree turn. Somebody waved me across so I had to go quickly with steering on full lock and the car juddered as if it was a worn clutch but coming from the rear. I booked the car in and discovered it only happened when I'd driven at least 6 miles and I was able to replicate the fault easily by pulling away reasonably quickly with steering on half to full lock. So over a period of 10 weeks Visit 1 Software update 1 day not fixed Visit 2 Clutch adaptation (driving round in figures of eight while plugged into a laptop fixing the clutches in place) apparently to wear down any rough surfaces on the clutch pack. 3 days not fixed. Visit 3 as above 6 days not fixed. They may have also something with the propshaft coupling. Visit 4 1 day not fixed. Took Master tech out to again demonstrate the fault. I made sure the car was warmed up and I didn't even need to live the car park to show him. I left the car with him. Visit 5 5 days may be fixed but early days. I've been told to drive 200 miles for the transmission to adapt to my driving style. "The technician carried out an adaption drive on the clutch pack for the prop shaft and also changed the 4 wheel coupling oil" So I'll let you know how I get on in a week or so but I'm glad I wasn't paying. I also had a puncture so I replaced both tyres on the same axle with the same tyres as the car came with so I avoided any complications with mismatched tyres.

Hi Stevey I really appreciate your reply and help. I will get back to this car again in a few days and make a start at looking at those sensors . Are there 2 egt sensors do you know, and are these just after the turbo ?

Right so took it to another garage, this time i’ve witnessed him servicing the ac from beginning to end. He mentioned that it seemed like the ac wasn’t regassed enough previously. This time round, he’s regassed it for me to the maximum capacity and so far its evidently colder than the previous two regas. We said that we’d leave it for a week…

Hi Gary My car is working perfectly now, and have decided to always turn off the Stop/Start function every time I drive to try and take the wear and tear off the system. The Stop/Start function must put one heck of a strain on the BGS. Happy motoring Sir!

Totally agree Alex, in an ideal world yes 😂 however the power of the internet and forums like this are invaluable for people, and the main reason I didn’t automatically book my car into my normal independent mechanic. The thought of paying for this repair to then discover afterwards its warranty would have been a catastrophe! I do take your point re the dealerships though, they should all be advised directly from Audi UK of the fault and offer customers immediate peace of mind.

Already tried the ecu. Wheel angled sensor. Replacing ecu/pcm did not work. So after replacing the wheel angled sensor, car is running fine. So, I put my old ecu/PCM back in. And still running…

Each time it's happened it's been straight after an unintentional "Italian Tune Up" so I'm avoiding over revving it for the time being. It's more Driving Miss Daisy than Fast And Furious at the moment mate!

I don’t want to come over as being patronising, but I must say that this thread has been a breath of fresh air, and I must say a big thank you to Kevin, and all those who have taken time to respond and to press the Like button. I’ve used so many examples to try to describe the effect on those who help and are rewarded with zilch. As I understand it, we will now be adopting a more softly softly approach before issuing Warnings, and as Sgt. Wilson would say when giving orders:- ‘Would you mind awfully?’ OK, I will try that approach, but could I be excused from thinking it will end up as effective as giving a pig a table napkin? but…. Hi Gary Great to hear about this good outcome. However, it seems the responses from dealers are not in sync. IMHO, it should not be like pulling teeth to get to the correct result and customers should certainly not have to educate some dealers about the 7 year warranty.

Totally agree Kevin, it's my biggest gripe on this and other sites where people go out of their way to help others only to be met with silence, and it's becoming increasingly common unfortunately. Maybe it's just me getting old but I find myself having to bite my lip more and more often rather than having a rant online. I brought my kids up to say please and thank you as an absolute minimum when dealing with people but it seems that we and others here who give up their time and knowledge in hope of a simple "thank you" are a dying breed. I remember when I first left school an old guy I worked with telling a rude customer who wanted a favour that you catch more bees with honey than you do with vinegar, and another that said if someone thinks they're helping you out and offers you a bucket of s*** to smile and say thank you, you can always put it on your roses or give it to someone else who needs it. That said, I'll keep giving advice where I can as I appreciate the thanks when I get it and it's nice knowing you've helped someone out.

Frank. I really can not believe 3/4 of a tank in 15 miles without badly affecting performance or generating enormous amounts of smoke. That equates to about one and a half miles per gallon if my arithmetic is correct! To my mind either the fuel is leaking at a considerable rate, which I am certain you would see, or the fuel guage is wrong. My money is on the fuel guage. I don't know easy it is to remove the sender from the fuel tank and replace it with a new one, but that may be the quickest way to prove the point. Ideally I would want to drain the tank then add a measured quantity of fuel before driving it until the tank is empty, but that's not really a practical proposition.

Only a little smokey? The sort of consumption you report should lead to rapid blocking of the DPF or a dense black impenetrable cloud behind the car which would get you stopped by the police. Is it possible the fuel guage is reading wrongly and the consumption is much less than you thought? Alternatively there may be a diesel leak from the fuel pipe only while the engine is running.

Hello everyone, it's been a while now since I made the repair of the car, I can tell you that from that day on it hasn't happened. The machine has never shut down, even after 2h in a row. The problem for me was the control unit under the steering. I leave here the code of my ECU, maybe it is easier to find it: 8P0 953549k 0070 SW 037 HW This problem appeared to another person with the same car but slightly different symptoms and a pre restyling version, he too was able to solve it by changing it and it has not happened since that day (some months ago)
