  1. Hi Gareth I managed to get the email address of a man who works with Audi Tradition/Auto Union. He has literally just sent me a letter from Audi Germany confirming date of manufacture 😊😊 Thanks again VIN is stamped into the inner wing area.

Hi Gareth, thanks for taking the time to reply. I appreciate it. cheers
  3. My battery has now been coded to the car. Reading the voltage, it’s definitely charging at higher rate on the battery. I will test over the next week and update.
  4. "Not many miles" doesn't really answer the question, which was about the odometer reading. Nevertheless I suggest you get the car inspected. It may be suffering expensive wear of the bearings or maybe cheaper wear of the timing chain tensioner.
  5. Thank you Paul. This is a forum where information is supposed to flow both ways so that everyone benefits from shared knowledge, not just the questioner.
  6. Didn't realise yous were waiting... sorry.... turned out the coolant leak was the valve right in the v, luckily my cousin had recently opened his own mot station and garage so he took the job on. It is alot to strip, inlet manifold, throttle bodies and egr removed, cleaned while they were off the car as only 70k miles and they were almost clogged with black carbon/gunk..... and i only use premium diesel and majority of my driving is motorway, both short journeys..... wouldn't have thought be a cheap job to a stranger but I paid quite alot for that job and that's family, good days work to strip and rebuild, without the extra time I spent at his garage cleaning the inlet manifold and egr valve, which I doubt would be a normal part of the valve change?
  7. Hello Pip, I think (in caps) there is only one O ring, and that wasn’t supplied with the one for my 2006 1.6, so it seems you are lucky! More than one needed? Proof positive is to ring the Parts Section at the dealer you bought it from, and they will confirm/ refute. Regards, Gareth. Next best option would be to look up LLL Parts website.
  8. Clifford/Richard/Billy. Thank you all for responding. Clifford, This morning I have jacked up the wheels in turn and I found I could not rotate the wheels fast enough to get any noise out of them. They just seem to be too heavy to get any meaningful rotation in them. As soon as I stop turning them, they only go about half a rotation then stop. I gripped and tried to rock them but could not detect any movement. Billy. If I were to lift the wheels of one axle up, the other two wheels would still want to drive off as it's a quattro. Richard. Thanks for the info and video. It is good, but way beyond my ability. Good to see it though. It's a lot more involved than I thought.
