Hey @Steve Q thanks for the response. Turns out it was because the car was on Axel stands and all four wheels have to be turning or the ESP "thinks" you are in a skid. I put all the wheels back on, dropped it on the ground and it hasn't happened since 👍1 point

Thanks so much Gareth. Halfords said it’ll need replacing in the next few months. Audi tell me it has a dead cell and is urgent. I’ll follow your advice and get a quote from my local guy. your time and patience have made me feel so much better. Thank you. Sarah x1 point

I've now found out what the other three buttons do..... you can program them with a transponder at the front of the car to open remote control property gates and garage doors. Thanks for everyone's input.1 point
