  1. Thanks for all the advice much appreciated, If anything flags up I'll be in touch! Yes battery seems a good one 5 years peace of mind on that front. Many thanks, BP
  2. *UPDATE* New battery just arrived and fitted to the car, car started no problem first try with ESP light still showing and power steering light on, both cleared within 30 seconds of driving. Have stopped the car and restarted it and no lights on the dash and car seems to be running ok!
  3. Hi Gareth, The replacement I've ordered is a Bosch S5A08 from batterymegastore.co.uk When ordering I entered the registration and was then given the option 'does your car have a start stop system' to which I selected yes, all the results then came back as AGM batteries. In the vehicle handbook it states 'your vehicle is equipped with an intelligent power system to control the distribution of electrical energy. It also states vehicles with e.g start stop system are equipped with a special deep cycle battery (AGM type). The on board electronic systems may develop problems if you fit a different type of battery. So hopefully, the problems have been down to the old battery not being compatible? Kind regards, BP
  4. Just checked the old battery which has been on the car 3 years at least was a Yuasa YBX3096 12v 75ah 650a So definitely not an AGM which it should have been
  5. Hi Gareth, I'm 99% sure The old Yuasa battery was not an AGM battery (will check and confirm once home). When referring to the 'intelligent charging system' is that referring to the old battery being damaged as it wasn't compatible? Kind regards, BP
  6. Thanks for the swift response ! Yeah it was very unusual, I had all sorts of warnings being thrown up about oil pressure, ESP, ABS ect. New Bosch battery should arrive today so hopefully that cures the problem!
  7. Hi all, i have a really strange problem with my a3 2011 2.0tdi that's developed over the last few months. I first noticed an issue when driving the car a couple of months ago and the car felt like it was labouring/choking as if i was in the wrong gear. However dropping down a gear seemed to fix the issue. The second time this happened i was on a busy round about and the car choked/juddered and then the car completely shut down (no warning lights on dash, nothing). The start stop on the car managed to get it going again (this was around a month ago). Then yesterday in 3rd gear the car did the same thing but this time would not start up again. The car would crank but not start. My local garage are unable to book me in as they are so busy but said it definitely sounds like a fuelling issue. When checking the car at home for any obvious signs i checked the battery and gave it a boost as it seemed low and on the dash of the car displayed was 'ESP fault please see owners manual'. Then took the battery from my dads Skoda Octavia (same engine) and the car started up perfectly first time. Upon checking my battery it was a Yuasa 3000 NOT designed for start stop vehicles such as mine and has been on the car 3 years. What's throwing me off completely is even when i had broken down yesterday i had no lights on the dash board indicating a fault and also is it really possible for a bad battery to cause the car to break down while actually driving it? (as i assumed it would be being charged). A new correct battery is on its way today so im hoping it was just a battery issue. Would really appreciate your thoughts on this one, Cheers, BP
  8. Hi all, noob question but just noticed on my way to work this morning that my mirror indicator is not lighting up, im assuming these are an led as opposed to a bulb? where about's would i be able to get hold of a replacement part? and are these straight forward for me to replace? cheers guys, BP.
  9. Looking at ordering a set of these to cover up the dealers logo at the bottom of my number plates. Im assuming once these are fitted you can just slide in the number plates? What are your thoughts? https://store.audi.co.uk/audi-sport-number-plate-holder-3291401400.html
  10. Took it to the garage and they think it's to do with the boot lock. Hoping it isn't going to be too costly😐
  11. Just to update this thread, this time I caught the alarm go off as it happened although it was a strange high pitched alarm that lasted only around 30 seconds before it shut of whilst the hazards flashed as they had before. So now I'm having to leave the car unlocked at work as to not drain the battery 😣. Also I haven't noticed the blinking red LED in the car when I've been locking it. Really puzzled as to what's actually causing the alarm to go off, the car is literally sitting there on it's own...
  12. Hi guys, left my car at work yesterday when one of my colleagues pointed out my alarm had gone off as the indicators were flashing. So I unlocked and locked the car and thought nothing of it. Today I've kept an eye on it and the same thing keeps happening at random intervals of about 30 mins. The cars indicators flash but no alarm sound. Nothing even close to the car no wind rain etc. The car locks and flashes as normal I've checked all doors and boot, all fine. I've even tried double tapping the lock button so nothing inside sounds the alarm and get the same problem. Any ideas? Cheers.
  13. Hi guys, just wanted to double check on this, I've got a 2011 a3 2 litre diesel just brought my car home after a short 5 mile drive and after switching the car off the fans were still running very loud, which I'm aware is normal to cool the engine however I waited a good 5 minutes and they were still going loud, so I restarted the engine and shut it off and they stopped. Just wanted to check this as my previous fiesta needed a new relay because the fans got stuck on. Don't want to chance leaving the car for work to come back to a dead battery. Is it normal or should I get it checked? Cheers.
  14. Link is working for me now as well thanks mate 👍
  15. I'm in East Anglia unfortunately but cheers for the offer 😊 when I click the link I get "page not responding" might be my laptop that has the issue🤔.
