Alarm going off randomly but not sounding?

Featured Replies

Hi guys, left my car at work yesterday when one of my colleagues pointed out my alarm had gone off as the indicators were flashing. So I unlocked and locked the car and thought nothing of it. Today I've kept an eye on it and the same thing keeps happening at random intervals of about 30 mins. The cars indicators flash but no alarm sound. Nothing even close to the car no wind rain etc. The car locks and flashes as normal I've checked all doors and boot, all fine. I've even tried double tapping the lock button so nothing inside sounds the alarm and get the same problem.

Any ideas?

Cheers.

Just to update this thread, this time I caught the alarm go off as it happened although it was a strange high pitched alarm that lasted only around 30 seconds before it shut of whilst the hazards flashed as they had before. So now I'm having to leave the car unlocked at work as to not drain the battery 😣. Also I haven't noticed the blinking red LED in the car when I've been locking it. Really puzzled as to what's actually causing the alarm to go off, the car is literally sitting there on it's own...

First suspect is the bonnet alarm switch- check the contacts   using a multi-meter

Took it to the garage and they think it's to do with the boot lock.  Hoping it isn't going to be too costly😐

A replacement boot lock shouldn't be too expensive 🙂
