  1. Hi , there is a pipe that slides in from the right . From memory the seal is approx 25mm diameter and approx 10mm width . I replaced it with a genuine one about £9 ( rip off ) and it leaked !!! Another couple of hours to strip back down . Use the old one and apply an appropriate sealer . We put the old one back on With sealer and 30k later still going strong . If you remove the manifold you will probably need a new gasket for that . I think manifold removal would be the easiest way to do it or take it to the garage that’s even easier 😂
  2. Hi , it should come with the large o ring . It’s the smaller one on the side that I purchased separately. I replaced this and it leaked so just use the old one and put some sealer round it ! I did it on a ramp from below . It’s a pig of a job ! Removing the manifold may be easier ! Good luck
  3. It was the top strut mount . Replaced it 3 years ago and still going string 👍
  4. It was the thermostat !! Thanks guys
  5. I’ll let you know the outcome chaps . Thanks for the input Andy
  6. My thoughts also Steve . I’ve got exactly the same model car and had to replace my thermostat last year . Pig of a job !!
  7. Evening chaps, just had the cambelt and water pump done on my sons 2012 A3 8P 2.0 TDI . Mechanic said it took just over 4.5 LTRS of Coolant and may have an airlock but have heat in the cabin . Drove it home with the heater on and temp reached 90 degrees then when sat in traffic with blower on the temp reduced to 75 degrees (not normal as it should maintain 90) got home checked the level and managed to squeeze in another half litre. Took the car out along the motorway a little later , car got up to 90 degrees , heater nice and warm , and again at traffic lights temp reduced. Got home , removed the coolant cap , no hiss , as it wasn’t pressurised , coolant Luke warm after indicating 90 and 20 miles of motorway driving ! No coolant loss this time . Could it be airlock ? If so how to get rid ? Or thermostat ? Thanks
  8. Evening , As per the title pls . Looking for a N/S front fog light grill for a 2012 A3 8P sport back with chrome trim pls . Thank you
  9. Thank you very much for the info. 👍
  10. Thank you Gareth , I was looking at Brembo , £190 for the full set up . I will make sure mounting faces are clean along with a strip , clean , re grease of the callipers . Thanks for your input . PS another brand that seems popular is PAGID ?
  11. Hi Gareth , Want to replace discs and pads plus fluid change . Just want quality parts and standard is fine or an upgrade not too bothered . Thank you
  12. Evening , Need to renew brakes , front & rear . Which brands do you recommend? Want to replace fluid as well . Standard dot 4 ok ? Thank you all
  13. LED bleed through causes this and is a common fault . You can get the instrument cluster repaired but if it doesn’t bother you leave it .
  14. Pleased to report its all back together and the needle is sitting nicely at 90! Thanks for your contributions chaps
  15. Quick update on this . It’s a pig of a job !! Removed alternator and air con pump to gain access . Maybe easier removing inlet manifold and throttle body but will need a new gasket if you go down that route . I’ll update when we have it back together if it cures the problem . As per Gareth’s advice you do indeed require an extra gasket . Thank you Gareth 👍
  16. Now it’s stop raining I’ve managed to have a good look at the thermostat location . It appears if the throttle body is removed it will give good access and the alternator can remain . Any words of wisdom before I start would be much appreciated. Rgds Andy
  17. I’ve used Febi on numerous occasions and rate them . Anyone know on the 2.0 TDI if it’s possible to change without removing the alternator ? Thabks chaps
  18. Thanks for the reply Gareth, I would rather use genuine VAG tbh . Any idea of the cost ? I will be doing it myself . Do you know if it’s possible to replace without removing the alternator ? Thanks Andy
  19. Evening guys , I’ve got to replace the thermostat on my A3 2.0 TDI . Anyone know which brand is the original ? I’m thinking of fitting a Febi stat , any opinions on this brand . Thanks and merry Xmas
  20. Could be air trapped in the ABS unit . On some cars you have to force the ABS unit to operate to bleed the air out of it . May be worth researching and finding someone with VW software
  21. Thanks everyone for your help and support 👍👍
  22. Part numbers and marking’s identical ! £17 delivered for mount , bearing , bolts and locking nut . Febi Bargain 👍👍
  23. Febi off , Febi on 🤷‍♂️ Either a seating issue or a dodge Febi part . We will never know . Just glad that horrible creak has gone 😊
