  1. thanks for all the help lads,i think ill concentrate now on getting my own engine sorted,as Cliff says a 2nd hand engine will still have a lot of work done so at least with my own one i can strip it and make it good again, itll be a project that i can work on over the next 7 or 8 months.thanks again

  2. hi matty thanks for your reply, the guy who done the compression test said on bank 2 he was getting 6 bar where as on bank 1 he was getting 15 or 16 bar,the previous owner is very surprised to hear about this issue as he said it drove into the spot with no issues, the fuel pump was knackered when i got the car so i fitted a new one thinking it would run but now ive this problem

  3. hi guys, this is probably a long shot but im looking for an engine for my 1998 a4 2.8 [engine code ACK],i bought the car through the forum a few months ago and got it shipped here to ireland,it has low compression on bank 2 cylinders so a replacement engine is my plan,if anyone knows of one for sale or point me in the right direction id really appreciate it,thanks Greg

  4. hi mark, the arms on the rear can be very stubborn to remove, spray plenty of wd40 or something similar onto it and maybe leave it overnight to soak,a pullers might be needed if this fails but just be careful of the glass.Greg

  7. hi yanis, these cars are known for having issues with the temp and fuel gauge, the fuel guage in particular can be very decieving,i renewed the unit in the fuel tank and it solved the problem,as cliff says the thermostat is worth renewing to solve the issue with the temp guage,Greg
