  1. Hiya people, Quick or maybe not so quick one. I recently did my timing belt and changed the front crank seal at the same time as there was a slight leak from that area. Well despite my positive post the other day it seems I still have the leak but a little worse than before. When I changed the front seal there was what appeared to me a machined depressed ring in the crankshaft. It appeared too precise to be damage from a seal and also too deep.. Is this an intentional piece of machining does anyone know? Wondering if I’ve just got a poor quality seal and should get a VAG one with housing or if the groove in the shaft is something more sinister…. looks like it’s coming apart again regardless 🤬 thanks
  2. Welcome to the club…. eBay and other online places like AUTODOC are your friend. I’ve replaced both of mine just because of the pinch bolts seized and couldn’t risk being part way through the job and have a U/S knuckle and no car so bought new ones. I think around £120 ea….most the sellers are clear on the two different size ball joints….I think they are the same as some Q5 also. Be sure to use a quality separator as the hardened steel inserts have been known to pop out of the aluminium (if you were refusing any ball joints)
  3. I’m a little late but welcome to the forum….Great choice absolutely loved my Q7…but was a company car and now back to buying my own hence the A4 B8 😀
  4. I’m a little late but welcome to the forum….I keep thinking about adding an Avant to our drive to replace our 3 series touring but haven’t go there yet.
  5. I’m a little late but welcome to the forum….
  6. Welcome along and congratulations - great choice
  7. Hiya, No I took it to a garage - insisted I didn’t want the DMF changed (I knew it had only done 40k) so only cost a little over £500, which I thought was ok. I’m an ex mechanic but didn’t even consider doing it on the drive. TBH I’ve never done one on this car but it doesn’t look the most straightforward
  8. Hi Everyone…. No real intent or questions with this post - just wanted to share. Still loving my A4 tdi, just done timing belt and water pump (precautionary as didn’t know precisely last change mileage), replaced aux belt with idler & tensioner too, I have an alternator to fit but ran out of time, also did crank shaft damper in the hopes of not needing to worry about anything at the front of the engine for a while. I’m doing oil changes every 5-6k or so to hopefully help the old girls longevity. Clutch was done a few months ago so just waiting for something to go wrong now…..hopefulyl she’ll behave a while longer… Cheers everyone
  9. I’m using Mannol Longlife 7715 5w30 in mine (and my other german car) that said I’m not sure why…both my cars are high mileage and i’m doing oil chnages every 5-6 or so depending how it lands…
  10. Hi everyone Been a member a while and fortunately haven’t had to pester you all too much…. BUT I’m looking for any info or what to look for on the A7 when buying. A colleague is selling a 2007 S line A7 3.0 TDi and asking for what appears from looking around strong money. 2011 model very clean and straight, few wheel scuffs. He’s the second owner he bought 18 months ago with 57k on the dials and tbh it looks as good now as when he bought. It now has 84k, service history, 2 keys. Will want a set of tyres in the bit very distant future (imagine they’re tyre hungry?)and it has codes stored pointing to dpf diff sensor that’s how I got talking to him as he’s got a light on and I offered my reader but otherwise sounds cared for. I need to check if it’s 4 or 5 seat and if it has HUD. I’m not sure if it’s due or bad timing belt on time or miles etc but anything I should be mindful of? Any common headaches lurking around the corner ? I wasn’t looking for one but have always loved them and really don’t want to retire my trusty A4 as I do around 20k per year. He’s thinking he’s about to advertise it for £12.5k… Thanks
  11. Welcome along…..pretty cool hobby….after Audis of course
  12. Sorry no idea and don’t know of a resource online to check part numbers… gates and dayco sets are way cheaper than this tho - although I understand the attraction of genuine parts
  13. Hiya no expert pal but certainly appears same as one I bought and had seen on a few videos online.
  14. No probs, some nice looking motors there pal
