  1. thanks. Then I will definitely try it!
  2. So you know which version of MMI/ANI you have in the car? I have MMI low.
  3. I have MMI basic in my 2010 A6. I've seen these on interweb AMI MMI 2G 3G 3G+ Bluetooth 5.0 Aux Audio Cable Adapter Fit For Audi A4 A5 A8 R8 | eBay Has anyone used them successfully, and do I have to do any other mods? Assuming the new radio module on order fixes my MMi, would like the upgrade. I saw this used on another forum too. be grateful to hear of anyone's experiences...
  4. Of course, old-ish post. You might have sorted it by now.
  5. Hi Steve. I have the same problem. I push the on button, fires up to a welcome screen, then 'NOTES' then goes blank again. None of the buttons on the centre console illuminate, cd goes through the discs when I open the car etc. I had an audi mechanic come round and he traced the fault back to the radio module in the boot (LHS). There are various modules, and if one fails, they all fail. He said I need a new radio module, and I have one arriving in a couple of days , used from a breaker, £100. Now I've heard that they need to be coded to the car, but he says it might just fire up without coding, though he's able to code it if necessary. I'll let you know how I get on. But I think you'll need someone with proper diagnostic tools to isolate the problem. I'm fortunate that this is the local dealer's head tech guy and he's happy to come to me off the books.
  6. Hi. I seem to be posting a lot here, but fact is I'm giving the old girl a bit of love, having neglected her for well over a year! When you get to that age, you need a bit of care, right? Next: I've isolated an annoying rattle. I suspected it was an exhaust clamp somewhere as the previous MOT had mentioned a corroded exhaust clamp in the advisories. Anyway, I've temporarily bodged it with a couple of jubilee clips. The rattle comes from a disintegrated support clamp. It's on the right side of the vehicle, nestled above the anti roll bar. Quite tricky to get to. Anyway, I want to know if I have to replace the whole pipe section, can I buy just the clamp, or perhaps i could weld it up for a permanent fix. Have been looking for some helpful tech diagram with exploded view and part numbers. Wonder if anyone has one, or can link me to it. It's a 2010 2.0 TDI A6 Avant, Manual.
  7. I've bought some memory foam and was just going to cut it to shape. The seat belt bing stops if I push the seat belt further into the clasp.
  8. I need to replace some of the foam in the driver's seat base because my !Removed! hurts. What do I have to be careful of regarding sudden airbag deployment when I unplug the electrics? Second question, the seatbelt sensor is iffy, so it often bings at me when I'm wearing my seat belt. Can I leave the sensors unplugged or will that affect the airbag?
  9. Thanks Steve. I just fixed my blower motor so brimming with confidence!! Will give this a go during the week. Thanks again!
  10. Thanks Steve. I am an amateur mechanic - I can do brakes, rebuild carbs, suspension bushes and stuff like that - I have trolley jack and axle stands, reckon those jobs are beyond me?
  11. I only get it in first and reverse, or perhaps I don't notice it at speed. It's a 2010 Avant 2.0 tdi. I thought it might be the snub mount. The car has covered 200000 miles. Whaddya think? Which if the mounts is likely to fail at that mileage?
  12. Not yet. I have a local Audi tech coming round on Wednesday to diagnose. From what I’ve told him, he thinks it’s probably one of many mmi modules that has failed. They’re all on the same fibre optic circuit so if one goes down it’s all kaput. Will let you know if I get an answer. Regarding the blower, he thinks either a controller or the motor itself. I will update you
  13. They’re no fault codes (I have my own OBD thing), no damp carpets or wheel well. But yes, could be worth a new battery. Can be slow to turn over.
  14. Hello. I have a 2010 Audi A6 Avant 2.0 TDIe SE Euro 5 5dr. It's done a few miles, runs like a dream, but has developed a couple of faults, simultaneously. First, the MMi became slow to respond and around the same time the A/C fan became temperamental, sometimes taking a while to kick in. Then the battery went flat overnight. I figured there was probably a bit of damp in the system, caused a short and a power drain. Jump started the car, and from then on the MMi is totally dead, all controls on the center console are dead, heating/AC panel is live but no fan, although I can hear the doors moving around. I've checked for damp and water ingress (there is a lot of condensation which is now freezing because of the cold) but can't find any. Checked fuses etc. Checked pollen filter. I did attempt to remove the scuttle panel but couldn't waggle it out. I took off the wipers and the two screws at the front centre, but just couldn't get it to shift and didn't want to break it. Though the car has done over 200K, it's too good to skip, but if I can;t fix these issues then there's a cheap A6 Avant for sale! Any advice gratefully received. S
