Hello Duane,
All I would add to what has already been said is - I would strongly advise you not the use the car at all. If you do, you will end up with a wrecked engine in a short number of miles.
Even renewing the oil would be fruitless since in 6 to 7 miles, you would have contaminated that oil with a litre or so of coolant.
Regards,
Gareth.

Hello Lucy,
How old is the current battery? I ask since there maybe a current drain on it, rather than it just being well passed it’s best. If it’s over 5 year old, it would be wise to renew it anyway.
What brand are you intending buying? Important, since these cars are certainly battery-efficiency sensitive.
To ensure you don’t lose any codes then you would be wise to invest in a a cheap saver device, which acts to keep 12v to the battery cables when they are disconnected.
Finally, you will need to code the new battery to the car, otherwise it could be seriously damaged by being overcharged.
A forum search will come up with the advice you need.
All in all, a DIY replacement may not be your best option in your case.
Regards,
Gareth.

Welcome Jay,
Judging by your written comments, I too would concur with your views on your chosen mechanic.
Just to add, I don’t open links from unknown sources, so my comments are based solely on your written word.
Could you do us a kindness Jay and amend your profile and be more specific re. your location within England.
Regards,
Gareth.

Hello Simon,
You seem to have joined late yesterday evening, and already posted 7 times - including this response to a 7 year old post! Why?
This joining and the ’rapid fire’ posting together with responding to old posts, causes suspicion that you are indeed ‘human’, so all future postings will be monitored.
Thanks,
Gareth.

Hello Dillon,
So that is £4,800/pa, add to that, the car’s depreciation over that year, and you really are into bonkers territory! I am ignoring any finance you may be paying, together with the annual road tax, and obviously the actual running costs of the car. Sorry to put it bluntly, but you are in extreme danger of running yourself into an economic disaster - unless your earnings are exceptionally high,or you are ‘of some means’.
As Cliff says - assuming you have checked all comparison sites - you will need to seriously research vehicles with low insurance groupings, and cut your cloth to suit those vehicles.
Really sorry to say it as I see it, but it’s madness to have to spend a significant amount of amount of your working time to ‘feed your current situation’.
Regards,
Gareth.
Having problems working out my fuel tank capacity -
in Audi A6 (C8) Forum
Welcome Steve,
10 litres remaining when the light comes on seems a reasonable reserve to me, and certainly not ‘crazy’ in my book. Consider if you lived in a rural area where filling stations are few and far between.
To be honest, I cannot follow your logic in believing it is an overkill, but irrespective of that, the car is simply going to use the same amount of fuel, wherever the low fuel light comes on!
Regards,
Gareth.
