  1. Yes , I am considering second hand one, there is few options . Next week hopefully I’ll have a time remove gearbox, see what condition clutch set is, read part number and shop around few scrapyards .
  2. Very strong rattling sound when car started (dual mass flywheel bad, car have 200k miles on clocks) , easing off when car in operating temperature. Could be bad bearing also, but once clutch pedal pressed , no any sound going. Gareth , you are not wrong . I do understand that there very little to nothing chance carpart shop would have both type clutches on stock . Might somebody have ordered for S/s , but accidentally received regular(non s/s), or vice versa, and then had to bring back to exchange to right one , so might somebody knows the difference between these two… Thanks 👍
  3. Thanks for advice . I have Sachs on my 08 Audi a3, bkd . It serves very well. I’ve replaced it something 7 years ago at around 280 k kms. Now is 438 k kms . Two years ago, car developed heavy gearbox side crankshaft seal leak, (also were leaking fuel/vacuum pump, and valve cover were leaking ) I’ve replaced seals, and whole clutch was pretty wet. I know , that, would make sense replace whole clutch system, therefor due my limited funds for car, only option was give a good clean to DMF, clutch pressure plate with friction disc brought to machine shop, where linings on friction disk was replaced , cleaned through out, pressure plate checked (at costs of 40 euros). Even I’ve left old bearing (I know, that’s silly, but money talks), which was in good condition. now driving second year , and clutch system still good . yea, all works doing myself , garage visits only for tyre replacements and wheel alignments.
  4. Sorry not answering speedy enough to your question, as sometimes I am on move , and members request about extra information slips off my attention. You guessed right, I am looking for cheapest option. Get same effect for smaller price, and it is nothing wrong with this, as other family expenses takes majority of my money, reason is gathering information what actual difference between those type clutches, and if them interchangeable . Might someone works for car par shop, and can put them side to side and compare, what actual difference . I’ll bet that’s starter teething difference . But thanks for your input.
  5. Sorry about you’ve been upset for some reason, but shouldn’t be, … as I was looking to get answers about is there actually difference. But yes, it is equipped with start/stop function . thanks
  6. Hi, thanks for suggestions, at the moment looking on conversion to single mass flywheel, apparently price on them is more appealing. Will take couple weeks till resolve issues with clutch . thanks.
  7. Hi, that’s my wife’s car , trying sort it out. don’t have in my mind any brand yet. I’ve seen online shops selling clutch for non stop/start cars and start/stop systems, for some reason also cost more. Wonder there is significant difference between them to justify higher costs ? Different metal or it uses different starters with different teeth sizes . haven’t took it off yet, as car been driven on daily bases .
  8. Hi folks, I will have to replace clutch kit on Audi a3, 2010, 1.6 tdi, manual gearbox, my car is start/stop version, apparently when I am looking for clutches online, there is difference in price between non start /stop and start/stop. Is there big difference between them ? Them are not interchangeable ?
  9. Hi folks, would anyone suggest reasonably priced company which reconditioning injectors ? One of injectors gone yesterday, or maybe somebody selling good condition injectors ? Thanks.
  10. Thanks folks. Got it sorted. Got from eBay , by filtering parts by my car. Fitted new in , everything works perfect .
  11. Hi folks, I have Audi a3 , 1.6 tdi , CAYC engine, had to replace cam cover , and had to take injectors out, now I am assembling everything, just bit confused , can’t get definitive answer , installing new injector clamp bolt, torque to 8 Nm, then how many degrees to turn ? Google can’t tell definitive answer, mentioning to 180 degrees, but some occasions 270, one of manuals I found online, says 270, , but how much to turn in real ? Maybe someone have installed and knows what is the best way to do?
  12. Hi folks, trying find correct windows control switch from driver doors, wondering if part number 4F0 959 851H is correct for right hand wheel car ? Audi a3, 2010, sports back, 1.6 diesel. Thanks and regards
  13. Would suggest check grounds , as it is one of most important features which is a must. 13 v very unusual . Check voltage on alternator itself not at the battery. I believe this is something simple, like grounds . Probably best is find reputable auto electrician and ask to find fault , it will be cheaper than replace random parts suggested from internet .
  14. Hi folks, just got another Audi a3 , 2010, 1.6 diesel (cayc engine ) 5 speed manual. mileage 200460 miles . it does screams for service, just drove 70 miles home, average fuel consumption on motorway 48 mpg, which I think not bad. when started cold , it started straight away, engine was a bit shaking, some random squeaking sounds, could be alternator pulley , as interior light was uneven … B version injectors, a bit wet all around , wet under intake manifold , obvious signs of neglect ownership, to get car right , should injectors to be removed and brought to machine shop for test ? clean injector seats , new washers ? I suppose to replace intake manifold and valve cover seals… as it is pretty wet there . someone with experience of these engine could guide right direction what to look for. im more pd engine person, but time to move on. thanks
  15. I wonder is there any wiring and buttons to convert non button steering wheel ?
  16. Hi folks, quick question, I have 2008 Audi A3 , 2.0 TDI, bkd engine, manual gearbox, s-line. Have s-line 3 spoke steering wheel, but without radio control buttons, wonder is Audi A3 and other model Audi steering wheels with radio buttons are compatible? Any advice to find one ? Assume without air bag, as I could use mine one. I know about steering ECU under steering control unit , a while ago, I've installed cruise control, and I've replaced that ECU, and coded in order to work . Can't remember was that car , which I took off that ECU had steering control or not(have feelings it had,but not sure), also that was a bit newer car, as high beem light stalker had to fiddle a bit with, in order to get properly working. Wonder, I could see part number through diagnostics?? And then find out it supports steering wheel with buttons.. Thanks.

As you mentioned earlier, you've got aftermarket radio installed, would suggest disconnect radio first, open glow box and remove rear parcel shelve , in order to see lights. After that lock the car, and come back in 10 min, check all lights are off, as car should go sleep after it's locked, and all lights should be off after 10 min. If car goes sleep, and disconnected radio not helping with battery drainage, the worth to get to car electrician, as there is way to find out which system draws electricity after car goes sleep.
  18. Maybe worth disconnect egr cooler from cooling system, with adapter connect straight to heater matrix, block with blank egr pipe at exhaust (and probably at egr itself also blank vacuum line with bolt) (I have removed whole system altogether), and drive that way to see if you are loosing coolant. ... There will be warning light check engine due egr malfunction (possible code out of ECU), main thing is to find out would loose coolant after disconnected egr cooling system.

More likely steering angle sensor. Sometimes happens if car disconnected from battery for longer time period. I have vcds diagnostics, but couldn't adapt with it (or didn't know how to do it 🙈), but manual adapt did work. If you Google for Audi steering wheel adaptation, it should give exact procedure, as I remember , with straight wheels start engine, then do full lock to right and then to left(each side hold for 5 seconds), then get straight again , then drive for 20 meters, stop, do again full lock right to left(each side hold for 5 seconds), get wheels straight again, than switch off ignition for 20 seconds, start car again... If that sign haven't gone, have to repeat procedure... It took me like 5 times to do it, until steering angle sensor got adapted. Of course if sensor is in good condition, and other steering sensors are in good conditions. I had to do it after I was doing some repairs, and car was disconnected for over the month. Hope that helps.
  20. Hi Folks. I've replaced concert 2 non Bose factory head unit (Audi A3, bkd, 2008) with after market unit pioneer sph-da230dab, got also full wiring kit with steering controll (which I don't have yet) adapter with can bus wiring integrated. Seems to be working fine, just wondering is there a way to display radio info on dashboard ? Or top line will remain blank from now ? Thanks
  21. Handy site wheelfitment dot EU. Can find a lot of car wheel sizes, cross references.
  22. Hi folks. My 2008 Audi, A3, hatchback (3 door version body), eventually speakers degraded, and I am researching for replacement or upgrade . I believe I have concert 2 sound system with standard speaker system. (Not a fancy bosse or Olufsen). Any advice what speakers would be suitable for my car. Thanks.
  23. Isn't abs system supposed do opposite, make car controllable in harsh braking conditions? Sometimes abs kicks in when caliper is quiet seized, and slight touch to brake, system reads from abs sensor that wheel is stalled, triggers abs, even if there is no needed.
  24. Warped brake discs are only a symptom. Real question is - why them got warped, as brake discs not designed to get warped and it's only a symptom of some fault From my experience of work across range of cars (not posing myself as professional mechanic, only diy-er over 15 years of experience ) , real reason why discs ar getting warped, is faulty or incorrectly working brake caliper: - Stuck caliper guides -brake caliper piston got stuck (due rust or dirt under rubber sleeve) - very rear occasions (in 15 years came across only once) wrongly installed bearing, believe or not, but it happend.... after replacing wheel bearing new brake discs, new/ reconditioned caliper , bleed brake system, it stopped destroy brake discs. What are consequences of getting faulty caliper... - warped brake discs, causing vibration while braking and (sometimes) driving. - car getting severely pulled to one side when braking, in very bad cases, it pulls to one side all the time. - if driving longer period in that condition, it speeds up destroy bushings and joints. - overheat the hub, cause wheel bearing grease leak, destroys wheel bearing with continuous consequences. Sorry, about long text, I felt should share my experience and knowledge, might help others. I do feel open of criticism and if someone want add on something, feel free to add. Thanks.
