  1. I have a A6 3.0 TDI Black Edition with grey full leather seats, on a 16 plate with 21k on the clock at the moment, and I dropped my car in to the local dealer as the side bolster on the drivers side has some cracking in the leather which I think is the leather breaking down, it isn't a scuff or scratch mark (like you get from rivets on jeans etc) but a general cracking like you get on old dry leather. The dealer warranty team said "it's general wear and tear" but the service guy disagreed with them and agreed with me that for 21k miles and less than 2 year old car unless I was getting in and out 20 times a day it can't be down to wear and tear - but the warranty guy wouldn't progress a claim. I countered by saying lets go around the car lot and show me a car with 20k on the clock and the same issue, in fact lets look at cars with 3x that mileage and compare but they didn't entertain me. What's everyones thoughts on this? Should a premium car seat show signs of wear at 20k? I called Audi direct and they said that to proceed through the dealer is the correct way to handle this... Anyone else got this level of wear / cracking at such low mileage? As you can see from the pic the cracking isn't terminal as such yet but I want to pre-empt any issue plus get anything done under warranty if needed of course.
  2. You don't have shake to shuffle set on your iPhone in your music settings do you and the engine vibration or whatever is triggering the skip? Not sure if that is in the new iOS but it used to be and pee'd me off when walking or whatever and it kept jumping. I had issues with my iPod after latest iOS update and it not recognising the device (I have a 16 plate A6 with the advanced MMI or whatever it's posh name is) and was told that Audi didn't have an update yet. My fix was to roll back my iPod to a previous iOS and it's all good. My iPhone works flawlessly though over wired or BT connection so really is a bit hit and miss, although I did reset my MMI completely and deleted the phone from the system and reconnected as a 'new phone'.
  3. Yeah that would be nice.... amazing how many manufacturers miss simple stuff! If you are listening to a song by an artist or an album on random say you can also select the album or artist and dive into that in more detail
  4. Thanks for the speedy reply - much appreciated.
  5. Great thanks - probably need to invest in a kit, assuming the dealer won’t change it? Any idea what the value range is?
  6. I assume the jog scrolling works with the SD card (not sure as I use an iPod) - so by 'spinning' the MMI dial quickly it jumps to a quick search so you can scan through huge lists quickly - I have about 12,000 tracks on my iPod and it works a treat...
  7. Hi all, my heated steering wheel isn't very warm at all and with winter approaching I was wondering if it can be adjusted somehow - obviously there are no standard control options for it but assuming someone can use one of the swanky leads and adjust it? I asked the dealer and they said they could investigate the issue (!) and charge me by the hour for it.... errrr no thanks! Google throws up a bunch of posts - some more vague than others, some saying that it could be a faulty steering wheel or that actually its not hot just slightly warm.... compared to my Jag, Merc and other cars with heated wheels its very luke warm and cuts out really quickly... anyone else any views, thoughts or magic fixes?
  8. Hi everyone, just picked up my A6 with the MMI and tech pack and all is good and connected but I cant seem to get voice commands to work for the audio interface items - the manual hints that selecting songs, playlists and artists are all doable but it only ever seems to want / expect a nav instruction. Any help would be appreciated.
  9. Hi Trevor, so basically I had an early chassis number as I pre-ordered at a launch event, got the car after a henious time with a poor salesman and had nothing but faults with their in-control system (slow to respond, crashing, ipod not seen, sat nav dreadful, bluetooth issues, etc, etc)... that wsa bad enough and had 6 visits to the dealer in 4 months. The kicker was when I was driving home at about 50-60mph on an A road and all of a sudden the electrics started flickering (it was at night so lights were giving it disco party time as well!), central locking started rattling on and off, and the engine started revving wildly up and down and then the car died, lost power, steering, brakes, electrics, lights and everything. Fortunately the road was quiet so I forced the car to the side of the road and tried to mop up the mess I had made in my trousers from a near death experience! (JK! On the first bit!) I restarted the car and all fine for a few hundred meters and got similar issues, limped home (0.5 miles or so) and on my drive I couldn't get the car to turn off at all, tried everything and was seeminlgy going to wait until 3/4 tank of diesel burned off or start pulling leads on the engine. Eventually got it to stop by sheer persistance and went to sleep, slightly greyer than the day before! In the morning I called out Jaguar Assist and they came and checked the ECU etc and all looked fine. He opened the boot and found 2" water submersing the electrics and basically shorting the car out.... fast forward 2 weeks in the dealer and they couldn't where the water (totally clear - not dirty water) was coming in so I refused to drive the car on the grounds of I didn't fancy dying at the hand of JLR!
  10. It's been a long and winding road but have rejected a Jag XE 2.0 R-Sport (nearly killed me at 50+mph) and just rejecting a Jaguar F-Pace 3.0S down to over 40 tech faults with the infotainment system. Wasn't convinced by another SUV as the Jag is by far the best looking out there so have opted for an ex-demo A6 3.0 272hp Black Edition and banking nearly £30k for the moment. If Audi sells the marque to me I could be convinved on something with an S or RS badge on it maybe next year... Probably going to remap the A6 and would be super keen to hear recommendations on this as there are about a trillion (at last count) people offering the service....
