Edward Newgate started following Strange noise from Audi A4
-
Hey guys, I have a 2022 Audi A4. I was wondering if anyone has any idea what this noise is. It started recently and it's always faintly present but worse at higher speeds. Please see the audio below, also attached to the post. https://jumpshare.com/s/XgCbBgWRWPYWEI5k3ncw The noise really becomes apparent at 0:20 onwards, when I hit 40 mph. I can't quite describe it in words, it's a sort of high pitched noise constantly in the background and sounds like something rotating? Seems to be coming from the right side of the car. Any ideas? Thank you! Copy of AUDI noise.m4a

Friends iPhone charging data upload
cliffcoggin replied to HonBruce2001's topic in Audi A3 (8Y) Forum
Evidently it was a data socket she plugged into, which is what one would expect on modern cars in order to connect the infotainment system to a phone. Better to use a non data socket next time, or find a way in the menu to disable data transfer at the front socket, though would defeat the purpose of buying such a sophisticated system. -

A loose motor earth could easily explain the poor starting, but not the power drain. The 1.6 mA drain you reported is not believable. A car in good order and locked loses a few dozen milliamps normally, some 30 times your reading.

Would raising the engine off its mounts give you enough clearance? It is what I would have done 40 years ago, but I do not know it if it is practical on your car. -

I questioned the brand and quality. And this was response. Offering a 2 year warranty, surely not a cheap knock off right? The new one should restart the 2 years again. They have been great to deal with though which makes a change from some garages ive used. And i will do as you suggested for paperwork. Thanks

So they will be fitting another brand this time - not ‘an OE equivalent’ but now the ‘same quality as the original’! OK, if it were mine, I would ask them to list the make of the latest one on the work sheet. 2 year warranty on this latest one and starting from now?
-
If i do take my own part in, i’ll lose the warranty with the garage. Ive been assured it the same quality as original, not oe equivalent. After diagnostics im pretty sure it is thermostat issue. This is a pic of last drive

spartacus 68 started following Headlight range control system fault
-
Chances are the headlight is made by Hella. The original OE Audi version will be double that. Even if you're going after-market, then I'd opt for Hella. No point having adaptive headlights if they don't work.
-
Pleasure, hope you can work something out. That’s a very nice number to have, and of course it’s unique! Kind regards, Gareth.

Initial problems - DRL gone yellow, Headlight range control fault with one of the headlight Guys ordered a new aftermarket Headlight, headlight range control module, ballast, all fitted. Just found out one of the headlight was not adaptive! there are two types of headlights one without adaptive and one with adaptive! Will be ordering a new adaptive headlight which I believe it costs around £500! I think this this is the reason the car was initially showing headlight range fault in the first place. However after changing the level control module under the steering wheel , the fault has changed from headlight control fault to Adaptive headlight Fault! I could've just left it with the non adaptive headlight with the fault codes on (with DRL fixed) but the main headlight beam is facing downwards on the new headlight and cannot get this facing the road. All this back and forth with the garage and costing me dear. :(

Allowed a friend to plug in her iphone to charge it from USB-C socket by gearstick… next thing the car starts uploading her data / removes my sat-nav data etc …. after overnight & after a couple of restarts it eventually restores me as key user etc. Suggestions please on how to do a simple charge - should I use the rear seat sockets or will the issue be repeated?
-
Hi Dan, Just picked up your message, yes I still have the number on retention. Thanks Gareth for your intervention.
-
Hello Dan, Probably best to PM Andrew, since he hasn’t been on here for over 9 months. Please let us know the outcome. Regards, Gareth.
-
Hello Marc, ‘….probably fitting the same type again… ‘ If so, then the risk of the same end result may well remain. Why not dip into your pocket and get one (and the rubber seal) from Audi, and ask your garage to fit that. If you do suffer any issues after that, you can then eliminate the thermostat as the culprit. Regards, Gareth.

Hello Cassandra, Was the light in the tailgate section damaged in the accident? -

That's atrocious if it was done via insurance, and to be honest it's just as poor if it was cash in hand! Regards the lights - definitely second-hand. Can be refurbished is not available from Audi anymore. Wet sand, then polish with Menzerna. In respect of the water pooling in the boot, they two issues could be completely unrelated, especially in the wiper motor is going haywire. The Valeo unit eventually dies due to the brass/copper pipe that runs to the water jet breaking. This leaks water into the motor and eventually into the boot. There should be an Audi sticker on it - plug and play if you replace. Just get the same part number.

Thank you, I called the insurance company and the re opened the claim and are getting an assessor to look at what's going on. It's so random to have water inside the car. Thank you -
Hi Gareth was naive to think a new OE part fitted for last 2 months could still be the issue, but looks like it is. They will probably fitting the same type again. But hoepfully this one will work. Getting done next Thursday, will report back. Thank you for reply and thoughts

Looks stunning!

Very nice 👍

please keep us posted on how you get on

Different coil packs could imply the previous owner has been trying to fix this issue for a while. Make sure the guy deleting any codes saves notes them down first. Please keep us posted on how you get on

I'd get this back to the garage that did the work as it doesn't look right.
