Help needed - SQ5 First Edition Audio fault message.
What sort of tools were you expecting James, and why? There is nothing the average motorist can do in the event of a breakdown. Even a punctured tyre doesn't need to be removed to fill it with goo. Whether the absence of a spare wheel can be considered as progress is debatable, but that's a different topic entirely.

Thanks guys. I know there’s no spare wheel but everything you read on line they say they do come with a tool kit. My last Q5 had a tool kit. That was a 2022 plate. Will email dealer tomorrow and see. Yes I did ask when they did the PDI was the light on then. But they assured me it all came back clear. I think someone didn’t do their job properly and just covering it up. Anyway just going to enjoy it now. The tech in it is out this world.

Car Play for 2012 Q5 S Line+
Has anyone had any success with after market Car Play kits ? Found one on a certain auction site for reasonable money, that syays the original MMI 3G functions remain active and supposedly integrates seamlessly with the vehicle. Thanks in advance.

A good result with the car James, though I can't help wondering why the fault was not picked on the PDI. Cars aren't normally supplied with spare wheels nowadays, hence no tools.

No spare wheel, no tool kit James - goo and a compressor. Regards, Gareth.

Picked the SQ5 up yesterday. The drive home was amazing and NO warning lights so I’m happy. Going through the boot checking everything is there and no tool kit. My last Q5 had one, jack, wheel bolt wrench and wheel alignment pin. The toeing eye is there and stuff for a flat tyre. So do they still come with a tool kit or not? Also they are going to give me £250 as a good will gesture which I thought wasn’t bad. I did push for a two year service plan but they wouldn’t go for that. Anyway hopefully happy motoring from now on. Any thoughts on the tool kit guys?

If interested - you should be able to request a copy of the build record from the VIN, from Audi or one of their dealers.

Proposed changes to in-use vehicle emissions - modification
From my quick scan, I think they are serious about this, and have a September deadline for comment, and it will then go forward towards possible legislation during next year. I think anyone with modified vehicles will need to take notice of this, rather than perhaps take a view of ‘oh yeah’. Will trendy pop-pop exhaust notes come under the same umbrella? Quite possible. Regards, Gareth.

Engine whirring noise
Hello Dan, I guess your description is taken as an in-motion symptom. What happens if you get the car up to operating temperature preferably after say a 5+ mile run, then at standstill, increase the revs and hold to a steady 3k and check the existence of any noises with clutch pedal not-depressed and depressed? Regards, Gareth.

Engine whirring noise
I’ve noticed recently that I’m getting a whirring noise between about 2-4 rpm when the cars up to temp. The warmer it gets the more noticeable it is. I thought it might be something to do with the drive train etc but when it’s happening, if I disengage the clutch and the engine drops to idle the noise goes away. Bring the clutch pedal back up again, noise returns? Sounds abit like a wheel bearing

Hi Gareth/Cliff, this was always coming the Germans tried it back in the late 70s with type approval on car parts within Europe, you were obliged to use manufacturer parts, that went out of the window when everybody and their dog worked out that the manufacturers had changed their practise and were not making the parts anymore but buying from people like Bosch Febi LUK Hella, the list is endless, therefore what was the difference between a Bosch part direct and a Bosch part with a VAG Logo, nothing except the Bosch direct part was about half price, this will not be as easy as they have a more than valid point, I love my cars but am realistic enough to take on board that Nox 1 is deadly and has to be reduced as it has been by the manufacturer, I agree in principle to what they propose as it drives me mad with the remap brigade who will happily try and belittle those who don't have their vehicles mapped as being dull and stupid, think of all the extra power you could have, then I have to smile when they end up on this forum bleating for help with problems of their own making which no one can help with because the vehicles been modified or as they put it improved, what price improvement, prime example being the poster with the A1 that had low compression and running problems because of a melted piston, after wheedling out of him you begin to wonder why anyone in their right mind would remap an engine that has a supercharger and inline turbo fitted and a history of melting pistons on its own without the aid of a remap, we have to get past a basic ignorance of what this process does to your car long term.
