  2. Ah nice. And sounds like a good project 🙂
  3. Please keep us posted on how you get on after fitting it.
  4. Definitely get a second opinion. The service advisor gets a commission on uoselling of work carried out. You're better waiting for the parts to be genuinely worn out in my opinion.
  5. Have you tried AliExpress or autodoc?
  6. Hi @Steve Q I've just put posts on here and a couple of fb groups also browsed ebay found a couple but prices are more than I need to spend tbh but I'm in no hurry tbf.
  7. Yesterday
  8. I'm hoping its the latter new brakes and discs are about £1200-1595, don't ideally want to be shelling out for this too Was hoping for at least a couple of years of trouble free motoring Audi are saying they need replacing at 9mm Audi dealer experience has been very poor to say the least
  9. Hundreds of pro boosts have now been fitted mainly in Germany which from what I've read have stricter emission levels they have very few reports on test fails due to it which to me is a 👍👍👍 all round 1k to return it to factory spec with its funny running characteristics😁 Or £350 to £400 for a pro boost and inlet clean😀😀 No prizes for which I am going with.
  10. Sorry if it came across that way but felt I needed to explain. Audi had so much trouble and customer complaints in the early days it gave up with the stratified mode I did read somewhere that Audi remaped a few customers cars themselves after complaints forced their hand. The only difference I can find is Audi didn't do away with the EGR. Pro boost did because it causes running issues to any engine that uses it plain and simple. Like I said would you like to run a marathon sucking on co2. I've been on this earth for 60 + years have seen a lot of egr damage in that time I am all for cutting emissions ect but we all can see the damage egr valves have caused my old 3 series diesel was a prime example when I took the inlet off there was barely enough room for air to enter the engine this making it run like crap in turn higher emissions. So I ask is a egr system any cleaner than a engine in good shape???
  11. Twyford,Berkshire. Looking forward to getting my hands dirty again and bringing it back to where I want it in terms of condition.
  12. Thanks, I'll watch the video for future reference just in case. When I took it to the independent specialist I did put the queries forward to them but they didnt think it was injector issue or misfire as nothing came up during diagnostics. I think it's just going to be one of those issues where I won't find it, until it goes wrong. Think my biggest concern was the auto box, I have very little knowledge regarding them and have had some previous bad experience with the previous gen tipronic 😞
  13. Pulling the injectors could potentially be down the road if the problem persists, but I think if I was going to do that - then I'd have them measured with VCDS first to see measuring blocks if there's anything amiss. Pulling injectors is never straight-forward, plus you'll need to seat them with new washers and new stretch bolts torqued to specification. There might even be 'o' rings on the body of the injector. In addition, a new injector if that was the case needs to be coded to the car. Also check vacuum hoses for splits. If it's inconsistent, my advice would always be try cheap route first. Forte diesel conditioner straight into your fuel tank when the fuel light is on and drive it like you stole it. Top up with premium diesel and replace the fuel filter as a matter of course. There's not much I'd put in my car additive wise, but Forte is quality. Used to use it on an old A4 quattro V6 around about MOT time to bring down emissions. Good video here on cleaning and reseating injectors on a 4-cylinder from Dave Sterl.
  14. My reply to your statement is above, just forgot to mention you in it
  15. I did think this at first, but I'd hazard a guess that it's not, it's quite inconsistent in when it happens, and generally goes away after a few minutes driving.
  16. Where have you tried so far? Have you tried eBay?
  17. You are worrying unnecessarily. 12 mm is plenty and should last months or even years, depending how harsh you are on the brakes and how rusty the discs become.
  18. Welcome to the forum you'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch 🙂 is that twyford Leicestershire? Sounds like a good project, the MK1 TT is going to be a future classic for sure.
  19. I'd recommend a second opinion as the main dealer often has a habit of wanting to change parts early for upsale of work.
  20. Possibly one of the clips that secure it is loose or misaligned. Is there any sign it has been removed since manufacture? Think scratches or cracks around the lip where a lever might have been inserted.
  21. I think on the A6 c7 that could suffer similar issues, owners resorted to using sticky back felt pads to cushion the speaker grill (in the c7 case) and the dash. Wrap some fabric electrical tape around the clips to make the trim a tight fit. Common on the B9 models so YouTube that there’s a few videos. Basically fabric tape. Might be worth a shot if you still have the same issue with the new Audi part.
  22. It seems to me that you are determined to buy one of these gadgets whatever anybody here or elsewhere advises, so why not go ahead and fit it. Do please let us know how it works out. Please also stop using this forum as a vehicle for your complaints about other organisations. If you want to discuss the merits of this gadget that is prefectly fine, but blatant generalisations about groups or nations is not.
  23. Could it be an injector issue? Is it worth having them tested?
  24. I totally agree regarding the egr, I have to mention the legality side as a matter of course as a moderator. At this moment in time the MOT only checks it's fitted not that a cheat device has been fitted to the ECU. The dvsa are talking about changing this my checking the ECU every time a car is MOT'd however, with how long the dvsa take to do anything it'll be mid 2030 by then. I fully understand why you're looking at taking the route you are. And if it passes emissions then happy days. The only way you'd ever come unstuck is if you had a crash and insurance company checked the ECU. Sorry to hear you had such a bad experience on the a2 forum. Hope you're experience here is better. Regarding swirlflaps I know the 3.0tdi suffered from.issues either them and owners resorted to deleting them.
  25. I've bought an approved used Q8 50 tdi, had it 2 months, apparently after a health check it looks like my pads are down to 12mm, apparently they're recommended changed at 9mm so 3mm left. The car does no more than 2500 miles a year, how much life could there be left in these pads? I've been told there's a lip developing in the disc too, not really sure myself. I know both jobs (discs and pads) are quite expensive, the independents for some reason charging about 50% more than the main dealer! I think its because they're actually sourcing the parts from the dealers or so I've been told. Not sure if it's worth taking up with the supplying main dealer?
  26. Hi everyone, I've recently purchased a 2021 A5 Sportback that I love but has one really frustrating issue that I can't see past. When the car gets hot from the sun, the dash vent assembly that runs across the entire passenger side of the car gets really creaky and produces a sharp, brittle, plastic sound when going over bumps etc. I've narrowed it down to this part through process of elimination, slowly removing trims and the issue is definitely the vents. I've ordered a new part from Audi that I'm hoping will resolve the issue and that the one I have has just loosened over time. Has anyone else experienced this issue and if so managed to find a fix? Attached is an image for reference. Any help or advice would be most welcome. Thank you!
  27. Just a note on the EGR and emissions with the pro boost fitted so EGR deleted the car passes the german mot on the emissions with no problems Now the german mot is a lot stricter than the uk one If it is well within the uk emissions test without a EGR valve why on earth fit one? A well running engine without EGR is cleaner than a car with one fitted due to the running issues it causes YES???? Probably opened a can of worms debate wise SILLY ME!!
