  2. I'll probably be looking for an Independent rather than main dealer.
  3. I'd recommend a diagnostic check to see if any fault codes flag up

  5. At least you can rule out the battery. It might be worth getting a diagnostic check to see if any fault codes flag up
  6. Sorry Richard, I have no idea what you are talking about. Regards, Gareth.
  7. Thanks Clifford, I did confirm that the battery needed coding to the car with the garage prior to the work, so I can only assume that they have done this. I'll check this later myself, but I'm fairly certain its been done.
  8. You'll need a diagnostic check to see if any fault codes flag up. But I'd say it could be the megatronics unit.

  10. Hi I want to go through this new fsi upgrade / replace common weak items. One item I have seen is a death pipe that's either stainless or alloy Does anyone know where I can get one of is it a case of getting one made. Greatful for any help馃榿馃憤
  11. Hi all did anyone fix problem my audi a3 2008 automatic goes in all gears but not reverse just flashing on dash turn engine off and on goes in i have changed oil and filter still doing it 馃槈
  12. Stop/start failure and unrelated electronic problems are typical of a failing battery. A new battery alone will not solve them unless it is coded to the car when fitted. You need to confirm whether that was done before looking for other causes for the faults.
  13. Hi guys I have audi a3 2008 automatic mine is doing the same i done a gear oil change still doing it all other gears fine just reverse then turn engine off then on gear goes in we are all confused
  14. Hi all new to club I would like to share my findings with you all on what has happened with my Fsi so far. I bought it cheap as it has/had a misfire and lack of power. I found the inlet flap actuator was missing (GREAT) I thought 馃槶 Previous owner drove it for 18 months like this until misfire started. Anyway I started of with plugs and coils and injection cleaner still had a miss. Now the interesting bit it never had the start up clatter that 90% of fsi owners report until yesterday after a short drive I started it again to drive it into the garage I was met with quite a clatter for a couple of seconds or so it settled into a nice idle strange I thought it even reved nicely so I take it for another short drive it went like a rocket all the lack of power and missing had gone馃槂馃槂 I am a bit stumped as the only codes I had were for the inlet flaps and multiple misfires Now I am thinking was the cam variator stuck and then freed itself any thoughts on this???
  15. As far as I am aware, National Tyre Service's changed it, but the issue started before I had the battery changed. I was also intermittently losing the stop/start function so I wondered whether some electrical functions were being shut down to conserve battery ? But I was probably wrong as I cannot find this documented anywhere. I just find it odd.
  16. I believe so.
  17. Ah apologies

  19. Interesting, does each wheel have a sensor and battery?
  20. ... On another forum a member had loads of written exchanges with the DVLA / DVSO on the same subject and they just shrugged a lot.
  21. Well done for having a look. Glad carpets are dry and no mayo. Yep separate systems. The AC system will leak water out to some degree. Glad you've got a warranty. You keep putting pressure on the dealer to sort. Please keep us posted on how you get on 馃檪
  22. Sorry I missed this. So glad you've got it back. You've done a great job and the cars s credit to you 馃檪 Have you managed to change the wheels and finding the cause of the cold start issue?
  23. You're welcome 馃檪
  24. Hi Steve Thank you for the reply No mayo on the oil filler cap, no smoke out the exhaust, carpets are dry. We do have a very good 6 months warranty on the car, so will speak to the dealer. The expansion tank cap seems to seal well, I will also check for a crack. Odd question this, when we use the A/C, could that be a part of the problem, or are they completely separate systems. Thanks again
  25. Thank you.
  26. Brilliant mate, glad you stuck with it and got it sorted. Well done.
  27. Fantastic news, thank you for updating us 馃檪
  28. Did you get the new battery coded to the car? It needs to be for full functionality.
