  1. Past hour
  2. Some might know its not particularly easy or cheap to get Apple Car Play into a 8V , A3. I successfully achieved killing two birds with one stone here ... bridged the ugly gap underneath the climate controls and have fully functioning car play in the bargain ... Ok ive lost my cup holders, which i never actually used anyway and the none slip matting is a temporary measure until the drinks holder caps arrive
  3. keep us posted on how it goes Gill
  4. Today
  5. We can see you have returned to the forum within the last hour or so, so can you now add to/ clarify your post please?
  6. Great, many thanks Gill. Kind regards, Gareth.
  7. Hello Bob, I’m sorry I can’t help you with this, but I would think seriously about DIYing this - it is likely to end up the sort of job you wish you hadn’t started, and has a great potential for resulting in broken bits of plastic. If it were mine, I would be seeking assistance at a trusted local independent. Kind regards, Gareth.
  8. Hey thanks for all the info. Still looking but a lot clearer on what's what now
  9. You might find an a3 one will fit
  10. Keep us posted on how you get on
  11. I'm highly confident it's cambelt.
  12. I'd consider either the headlight switch or the indicator stalks/relay.
  13. Thanks for the reply guys, and a friend of mine who's a mechanic has found time to come look into the car with me and the injectors seem spot on, he reckons the camshaft magnets need replacing so they are on order, the catalyst error has cleared itself? So will keep an eye on it anyway
  14. Hi, Sorry, I have put this in the wrong place and I don't know how to correct it now. I have an Audi A3 convertible. I would like to add or repurpose one of the switches in the small row of switches in the centre of the dashboard (nine push button switches only a few of which are used). The whole set are surrounded by a silver metal strip. Is this strip just clipped into place or are there screws/nuts on the inside that need removing? I have tried pushing a flat screwdriver under the surround and trying to lever it off but without using too much force. Does it come off without removing the whole of the dashboard? Removing the cover plate around the display screen just reveals a metal housing that I can't get past and I assume removing the air ducts just above the switch plate will mean disconnecting the air pipes so I am hoping someone can help before I damage something on the dashboard. Thanks, Bob.
  15. Mine’s back too. Spooky!
  16. New member here, looking for advise, I was pretty stupid recently , I decided take a look around the Audi A4 B8 hidden green menu, I made a few changes without keeping track of them I now have a list of greyed out items that do nothing but get on my nerves. I’ve tried doing the 3 button reset but it does nothing. Does anyone here have knowledge on resetting to ‘the you bought it new menus?

  18. A little update for others who may wonder the same; I’ve gotten it confirmed from the Audi dealer/importer here in Norway that my manual ‘13 A3 with the 1.4 TFSI CMBA engine does in fact not have a DMF but single mass. Ill be ordering a sachs clutch kit and swapping it out myself, seeing as the kit itself is only 220£ and I’ve been quoted from 1700 to 2500£ for just a clutch swap, which is insane in my opinion.

All working again for me today
  20. OK, AutoCarPart1 (4592) in Brum has a pair £146.82 incl delivery.....does this sound reasonable? There are MUCH cheaper on Ebay but I thought a mid range price would be fairly safe.....should I be asking myself "what are you like" or am I probably OK with these? Thoughts welcome.
  21. Right, just talking to audi now, if this is the problem, a new component ( because of course, you can't just buy the unscrewable ball jointed little metal arm, oh no, it's a complete sensor assembly) at just shy of £205........going on Google now with the part number he very kindly supplied me ( totally against company policy of course). So I'm looking for 4F0941286B and hope that I can get a pair for rather less. He did talk to their senior tech who knows about "legacy vehicles " - his words - and was told that this may sort the problem but if not it's a recoding exercise at the dealer, probably about £100. I'll keep you posted folks.
  22. Gawd, I WISH I was computer literate......I'm doing this reply on my Samsung tablet, taken a piccy of the dangling arm but don't know how to get the image onto this reply.....I know, I'm hopeless 😢
  23. Hi I am a new member and have an issue with my lights when i turn right the dip beam comes on and when i turn left it goes back to normal. I have had diognotics dont and turns up with no fault. Does anyone have any idea why it is doing this.
  24. OK, I hope this posts....bugga, not IT literate, how do I attach the photo? It's on the driver's side, one end attached to a green plastic thingy and the lower end is floating loose.
  25. Any pics? There are ride height sensors on rear passenger and front passenger side. Works with headlight levelling, etc.
