What are those weird 4 bolts, how do you remove them!?

Hi all, I think it know the answer but need to check.. Cars been sat up for 6 weeks as I have an EV and im looking to sell it I thought I had better give it a run, but battery was totally dead So brought battery in, charged it, but keys wouldn't unlock the door or boot so assumed it needed re-paired to the car as the battery was so flat I started the car, worked fine - great BUT.. When i tried the sequence to re-pair the key fob, there was a hell of a weird vibration noise coming from the front oaasenger side, the glovebox was vibrating like mad Turns out the passenger footwell is soaking, proper soaking - i peeled the carpet back and there's a few cm of water 😞 Am I right in saying this is where the comfort module is? Is it being in water likely the noise somehow and this is the real reason the fob doesn't work the central locking? I love the car but if this is what it is id imagine its expensive and not worth fixing 😞

MechanicMagnet started following Are my discs glazed/should my car make this noise?
-
Hi everyone I bought this car a few months back and everything was fine, i then started hearing a squeaking kind of noise on what seemed like every full wheel rotation. I initially thought cheap pads, so i had them replaced, but the noise persists. Im now wondering should i replace my discs too? Do my current discs look glazed to anyone? There is about 1-2mm of a lip on the inside of the discs too. When i put my hand on the passenger side caliper and push or pull, it makes the noise heard in the attached video, does this maybe resemble loose brake components? Or maybe a ball joint or bushing? When i move off, or come to a stop, there is a clicking noise from the front too, no noise when turning though. Im unsure which side as it is hard to pinpoint . Passenger side CV was recently replaced and the boot etc on the drivers side all seems perfectly intact. Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance :) Snapchat-1300956027.mp4

That's good. As I say it's the airbag wiring connectors that MUST be the same. -

Space saver tyre won’t fit due to polystyrene insert
jjirvine replied to jjirvine's topic in Audi A3 (8Y) Forum
Hi Steve. I’ve had another message from Joe to give me the heads up. I’ve managed to get the insert out of the boot using a combination of 2 wheel cap removal tools which loosened off the plastic button holding the thing in place…without damaging it which was a result. Thanks very much for your help…brilliant forum for information. 🙏 -

Hello! I have a problem with my 2013–2016 Audi A4 B8.5 2.0 TDI 177 hp Quattro 6-speed manual. I’m getting the "Steering Lock: Contact Workshop" error on the dashboard. In VCDS, the error appears in 05 - Acc/Start Auth. as 03026 - Enabling Terminal 15 with faults 006 and 009 (Short to Ground / Short to Plus). The ignition turns on, but after pressing the clutch and pushing the key again, the car doesn’t even attempt to crank. Instead, it turns the ignition off. If I hold the clutch pedal down with the key in the ignition slot, it eventually starts after multiple attempts—sometimes on the second try, sometimes on the 20th. This error and starting issue are intermittent. If I clear the error or disconnect the battery, it works for 1–2 days (or less). The battery is fine; it was replaced last year and coded to the car. The steering lock also functions correctly—the wheel has never locked or failed to unlock. This issue occurred last year. The mechanic opened the plenum chamber under the windscreen, cleaned the cables in the junction box (center of the plenum) with sandpaper, and sprayed them with contact cleaner. I repeated this process this year, but it didn’t help, and the cables showed no visible oxidation. Worth noting: I’ve had drainage problems in the plenum chamber. Water pooled there because the drains were blocked. The issue happened last year during heavy rain and has recurred this year under similar conditions. Here is the VCDS scan for the 05 - Acc/Start Auth. (BCM2) module: (If needed I can provide a full scan for the car) Address 05: Acc/Start Auth. Heated Seats. Installation of S line Heated Seats
papa yankee replied to papa yankee's topic in Audi A3 (8V) Forum
On looking at S line seats and the SE seats, the connections appear to be the same. Obviously no harness for heated seats -
It appears you can, you are 100% right. Matrix LED headlights Upgrade your headlights with Audi Matrix LED technology. Individual diodes automatically switch between dipped and main beam and provide maximum illumination of the road, without dazzling other road users. Light function package Unlock an extra lighting function that adapts to surroundings to enhance visibility when on motorways, cornering and at junctions. The Light function package also includes lighting ‘animations’ that play when locking and unlocking your car. High beam assist Upgrade to High beam assist to enable the headlights to automatically detect oncoming traffic, the rear lights of other road users and light sources in built-up areas. The High beam is switched on or off automatically, depending on the traffic situation.

I have a 2015 A4 Avant Quattro 2.0TDI Technik. The cruise control has ceased to function and the Cruise Control and distance sensor light (which normally lights green when engaged) is permanently red. My local independent VAG garage in Northampton have diagnosed the fault as the Radar Camera. They have quoted £3000 for a replacement. They say second hand ones won't work as the camera has to be programmed to the car. Can anyone help ? Is there someone who does reconditioned ones? Is the one on the car mendable? Many thanks. George

Hi. I’ve just bought a pre registered A3 Black edition (74 plate). There is a compressor and tyre puncture kit in the boot in a polystyrene holder on the bottom right hand side of the boot. I kept my previous A3’s space saver wheel (2018 plate) and it doesn’t fit because of the polystyrene foam insert. Is there an easy way to get this insert out as the tyre should fit if it was moved. There seems to be a plastic button like thing holding it to the boot but don’t want to wreck it if there’s a way of removing it without damage. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks 🙏

It would appear that the poster is a 2 year subscriber, and it seems he cannot be warned for posting and never returning! Unless I have it wrong - let’s hope I have. So if anyone wants to adopt the same tactics then paying seems to be the way out of responding to requested advice! Correct?? Regards, Gareth.

Had the same issue. Just give the polystyrene holder a firm pull and it will come out.

Ha ha thanks that sounds very encouraging!

Be sure John, something else will crop up to occupy a worrying mind!

Ya there is definitely a noise there while driving , faint but there. Think its my OCD telling me its the worst thing ever ,like differential or transmission humming , when it could be just a wheel bearing on the way out . Its a case of wait and see if suppose.
