  2. Hello First post so I hope this is in the correct section. Would anybody know, or know where I might find, the part number for the new grille that comes on the S Line models post-2024 (image below)? I've tried to find it on a number of parts diagram websites but haven't been successful. Thanks very much.
  3. Hi Joss, You went large with the 550! The Audi is a really nice car, but its main advantages are being younger, less miles, less tatty and better maintained than the E61 - which I couldn't justify spending money on towards the end. Although the BMW had more BHP (when it was new) than the Audi, the supercharger + quattro means the acceleration is certainly quicker with the 3.0. In my reality, that's better than the silky smooth 100mph+ cruising that the V8 was clearly capable of, because I live nowhere near an Autobahn. It's hard to beat the E61 for space, comfort, handling and looks that really aged well (do you remember how controversial the Chris Bangle styling was when they first came out?). Comparisons on fuel economy are striking, but boring. Even the standard MMI amps/speakers in the Audi are a big improvement of the BMW (standard) audio - and the Audi has Bluetooth/Aux. I was using a cigarette-lighter FM transmitter in the BMW! I decided to wait until my insurance came up for renewal to see what the bump would be for declaring the chip tuning as a modification. Although I must say that, after over a thousand very pleasurable miles, I've been chasing an overheating issue in the Audi for the last few days (thermostat and/or poor seal from cheap after-market expansion tank cap I think). So I'm giving more consideration to reliability and being gentle to the car alongside the previous thought of "seems a bit silly not to unlock an extra 100 bhp for a few hundred quid! " as you eloquently put it! Thanks for the conversation and I'll check out Phantom Tuning. Cheers
  4. Likewise inquisitive assuming anybody has effectively wrapped the front and back guard to pass out. Or on the other hand the chrome window trim? In the event that you did the trim did you or your shop eliminate it or envelop it by put on the vehicle. I've seen a few recordings from a Benz where the shop eliminated all the trim to wrap yet it seemed as though it would be simple for a shop to screw up on the off chance that they didn't actually have any idea what they were doing. Value hearing your encounters!
  5. I don't have a 'extremely durable' fix arranged at this point, yet I've been driving my drive for about seven days with the tape and I'm sure the trim hole was the main pressing concern for my situation. Needed to impart my disclosure to all of you, if it's not too much trouble, let me know as to whether somebody has previously concocted an improved arrangement. I can't have tape on my vehicle and I'm not perfect with the silicone.

  7. Thanks again for the advice. It has had a private plate on, but the first two letters are GC.
  8. Hello Mick, Thanks for joining, but without being dismissive, you really should entrust this issue to your supplying dealer. You will have/will be paying a lot of funds for this new vehicle, and you really should not be expected to trouble-shoot issues with it. Have you contacted them? Kind regards, Gareth.
  9. Hello Fi, Unfortunately, this issue is not too uncommon even on ‘modern’ cars, but its extent and severity can only be assessed by inspection. It’s really all to do with simply spraying a light coat of black paint on subframes and associated suspension hardware, rather than subjecting them to a good coating of preservative. Upshot is, you would be well advised to get an independent and experience assessment on it, and if found not to be too bad at this stage, get some Waxoyl type treatment applied to reduce the deterioration. Is this worth it? Depends on how it stacks up when the service history is requested and the evidence seen. What area has the car been operating in? First two letters of the registration? Kind regards, Gareth.
  10. Hi. just a quick question! Found another one for sale and checked all things you recommended above Gareth. just checking through past MOTs on this new one and notice this as an advisory. “Rear Sub-frame corroded but not seriously weakened “ would this be one to avoid do you think? thank you in advance!
  11. Hi, My new Etron Gt has been charging ok but has developed a fault. It won't now charge when the vehicle is locked, once unlocked it starts charging again. I have a fault notification 'please check charging connector locking mechanism' Any help would be grateful. Cheers, Mick
  12. I love the car too - and was going to change it for a performance most likely too. I like your approach so may look for something similar. Are you looking for 10 years on the whole car or just that part ?
  13. Eliot - interested to hear of your experiences. I used to own a 550i touring which I absolutely loved and I am picking up an A6 Avant 3.0 TFSI on Wednesday. Given the tuneable nature of the car it seems a bit silly not to unlock an extra 100 bhp for a few hundred quid! I am based in Kent and looking at Phantom Tuning as an option - did you take the plunge in the end? How is the Audi compared to the e61?
  14. Further update on the 7 Speed S-Tronic DL-501 issue ...... I haven't been able to get the adaption re-done yet after the full gearbox and both filters service as Matt with VCDS has been incredibly busy with his day job, but the one thing I will say after using the car for a few weeks now is it is incredibly smoother than it was before the service and the first VCDS mild adaption, no longer does it thump from second to first and even in reverse there seems to be a definite difference in the take up of the gear, especially on a slope, something it didn't like doing at all before the service, I am genuinely surprised how fresh filters and proper manufacturer recommended "MEYLE" DSG OIL can make that much of a difference, I haven't taken it on a long run yet and got everything in the gearbox up to a constant temperature and speed but around town driving is noticeably much smoother. As it started to fail on me and throw the dreaded yellow warning light on the dash after long motorway cruising I don't want to count my chickens too soon, but I'm hopeful that with a final and Full VCDS Gears Adaption my problem may well be pretty much sorted, as usual will keep posting updates for other members ......... 🤔
  15. I am trying to negotiate a 10 year Extended warranty. Whe n it goes again I get my spare fitted immediately and the warranty replacement becomes my spare, that way I always have in stock the latest model. Now I know what to look out for my wife and I can manage any future problems as otherwise it is a great car.
  16. Do you think they will cover the costs ? Have they offered you anything and do you have yours back now ? One of the reasons I rejected the last rs6 was this fault and that my wife wouldn’t drive it - too scared of this occurring and I can’t say I can blame her. As we know, it happens quite fast and leaves the car utterly dead. I was lucky this time as I got to a lay-by but if I’d had my dogs with me it becomes very challenging or on a smart motorway……last time it was the top of an m25 exit slip on a blind bend. It really wasn’t nice at all. And what really grates is I went from a car I had from new into one that wasn’t and was older that the one I was rejecting only to find I have the same issue….

  21. Thanks for the links Kev. Annoyingly last week I discovered from my mechanic that if I buy any 2.5tdi engine and keep my current injection pump and ECU the car will think the replacement engine is the original and will run. Wish I'd known that a year ago instead of worrying about coding of injection pumps and imobilisers etc. So my simplest option is to find a bau version of the 2.5tdi as this was the last variation of that engine and most refined in theory. Trying to find one with low miles and proven service history, but naturally this is proving difficult.
