Less expensive oil

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have been advised by Audi to use the castrol edge professional longlife iii 5W-30 oil.

This is pretty expensive. Are there any cheaper alternatives? I heard as long as VW504 / VW507 is on the bottle then it's okay.

Can anyone confirm this?

Cheers,

Jay

Hi @Voodoo1971,

I recently changed the oil in my 2013 A3 2L TDI using the Castrol Edge Pro 5w30.

I don't know how much anyone on this forum will approve (others please reprimand accordingly), but I bought mine from fleabay at £29.50 for 5 litres inc. delivery which I believe is a really good price. For me personally, I'd rather spend a few pounds extra if it means longevity and certainty that my engine is maintained properly.

Kindest Regards,

Shahin

Did you use the full 5litres?

I've literally just replied to that question on your other thread , I used about 4.7 litres. I still have a bit left over from a 5 litre bottle.
