Hi looking some advice,

I have my Audi A4 2014 sline Avant for 1 year now. I have had a bit of rust on the back wheel arches and was going to get it looked at, but before I did I got a toe hitch on my car and when in the process of this my car mechanic found internal rust in my car, I brought this to my local dealer to check out the internal rust, upon this visit I got told that the issue was due to my Fuel tank over flow being blocked and this has caused my internal rust, I do not this could cause the damage he clams he did.

Has anyone had issues with rust internally before?  Or could advise me?IMG-20190905-WA0001.thumb.jpg.dedc9ac1e470a608e9c6b757d96940cb.jpg

Thanks
