Gearbox Malfunction:you can continue to drive

Featured Replies

Hi am new to the forum, i have an A5 2.0 Sportback TDI S Line Auto. Paperwork has CVT on it so i presume its a Multitronic gearbox it has 8 gears.

This morning i went to set off for work and when i tried to select Reverse from Park it came with the fault "Gearbox Malfunction:you can continue to drive" currently i m unable to select any gear as it will not come out of P.

Its not been playing up and this is the first time this fault has occurred.I have not contacted a garage as yet as not sure how i can move the car.

Is this a common fault with this model, is this something that should go to a main dealer or would a capable garage be able to work on?

Has anyone had this before and what was the resolution.

Car is a 2013
