Replace air suspension with coil suspension?

To help avoid major costs of replacing failed air suspension on my A8 (2013 3.0 TDI) can the air suspension be replaced with coil suspension? I’ve heard it may not pass an MOT if done?

Air bags good ones should  be good  for 200.000 miles so I would stick with original  or buy a A6 ??
