Camshaft Position Sensor

Hello all. I am having intermittent issues with my Audi A6 2.0tdi 2007 starting. The local recovery company have diagnosed a faulty camshaft position sensor.

My local garage mentioned that replacing the sensor would require removing the cam belt. Please can someone confirm if this is correct?

Has anyone got a guide to replace this? I have searched the net but no joy.
