FUEL COMSUMPTION

Featured Replies

Now I know that onboard computer isn't reliably accurate. However I've got a 2017 2.0 TDI 150bhp B9 AVANT and this is what's been happening.

Fill the car with usually £50 of diesel. Reset the trip computer. Onboard computer calculates the fuel will last 600 miles. I'm normally only getting closer to 450 - 480 miles before it's empty.

My main question is..

How does the onboard computer calculate the distance? Does it work it out from your CURRENT LONG TERM values? Which for me is around 49mpg

Can members (with preferably similar vehicles) please tell me their usual MPG and distance drivable on similar fuel filling?
