Audi s3 cam adjuster- p0011 fault

Bought a 2009 s3 8p that had its timing chain done 300 miles ago (to date) I rang the specialists that fitted the chain and said that the chain may be out of time, however he was adamant that the timing is perfect. He said that there is a chance it could be the cam adjuster pulley, however he’s quoting that the cam adjuster on its own is £500, and that’s without labour…. I just want to know if the adjuster genuinely is that expensive or if it can be done a bit cheaper. Has anyone got a link to where I can find the correct cam adjuster for my car? It is remapped by the way, I don’t know if that would make any difference, also if anyone has had this done, how much was it altogether including labour

Hi the part that throws that code is normally the VVT solenoid which is easy to replace/clean, try ZAP7 for the diagram, the VVT solenoid is operated with oil pressure and can play up if the oil used is the wrong grade or excessively dirty I personally think its got nothing to do with the cam adjuster pulley and a new VVT solenoid is probably just over £100 for a good OEM part.

Hi Steve, unfortunately I have already replaced the vvt solenoid literally 2 days ago and the fault came back up again.
