Johnno
Hi, my A3 is a 2014 2.0 TDI Sportback and I need to change its battery. Thanks to advice received on here I appreciate it will need recoding afterwards. My question is now in regard to the type of terminal posts this vehicle is designed for: parallel or tapered? It isn't obvious by looking at them with the clamps attached and I don't want to remove them until I have the new battery. Johnno
Magnet
Hello Jon, Look up the likes of Battery Megastore, Tayna etc. put in your registration number and go forward from there. They will inform you of the correct fitment for your car. I always buy batteries with a 4 year warranty, and never buy on cheapest-price. You will find such on line specialists will give you far better delivered - to- door deals than you will find locally. Perhaps you can let us know how you get on. Kind regards, Gareth. Johnno
Thanks Gareth. The reason I posted this question was because the reply from Tayna was very non-committal putting the onus onto myself to make the correct selection,,, Earlier I found a useful tool on the Varta website (my existing battery is Varta); it lets you search for the current equivalent of an older Varta model that I shall order from Tayna taking your advice not to buy the cheapest. Magnet
Have a look at Bosch as well, since it’s reputed to be the same battery. Beware, not all Varta/ Bosch are the same - different colour tops = different qualities. Try Battery Megastore as well, and compare prices. Kind regards, Gareth.
